Bumblebee catfish?

AT $2 a piece here, with cute looking eyes, nice whiskers and good coloring, I'm urging to buy one.

Does anyone have information on it? I can't find it anywhere, even on this site!

Which of the 7 [1] species in the Catelog are you talking about?
Bumblee common name list

I suppose the most common one is . There's a fair bit of info on that species.

[1] The total number of "Bumblebee" fishes are 9, but since two of them are either "Cory" or "Pleco", I suppose you would have posted in the correct forum for either of those, leaving 7 species.

They look similar to BOTH the SA and Asian bumblebees...But they are closer to the Asians in face shape but colors resemble the SA more.....

This is an Asian bumblebee. It has nose barbels, which SA-bumblebees don't have.
It should be okay with peaceful African Cichs.

Maybe I'll re-consider them. The Africans I'm interested in are a bit nippy(Tropheus in one tank, julidochrimis and altolamprologus in another), not to mention S. decorus.

Just how does the tolarence go for tanksmates? Only peaseful like tetras, or slightly scrappy?

They are peaceful only to tankmates too large to be eaten, and can be quite territorial with conspecifics if not enough hiding spaces are provided. Small tetras may be considered snacks.

I'd be more worried about the water

Pseudomystus is a fairly tough fish, but if the pH passes 8 I don't think he's gonna do fine anymore

and especially Tanganyikans like the pH right up 8-9

My tangs are kept in 7.5~7.8 water, forgive me guys for keeping you in such soft water

I have to agree...they can get very territorial. I had an Asian Bumblebee and he was really neat looking. Only problem is one night he attacked and killed my Pengasius Catfish. (Nipped all of his fins off)
