C. aeneus pregnant and mystery Cory!

Post by Cory Lover 1 »

Hello everyone,

First off, if pregnant is the wrong word for a Cory that is full of eggs, sorry :D

I have 16 Cories (four C. aeneus, three C. trilineatus, three C. zygatus, two C. paleatus (getting one more soon), two C. schwartzi, one C. cervinus, and one mystery Cory). One of my aeneus is pregnant I beleive. She has got much more rounded and fatter (but it ain't her fault, she is pregnant, poor Cory, always trying to live up to the Cory 'models'  ). The males seem to pay a little more attention to her (which I'm sure makes her happy). She has been fatter then normal for about two weeks now, how long until she bursts, lets say? This is the first time I've had Cories that are going to breed so I don't know. But I've only had 'em for 1.5 years.

Heres the pic of the 'mystery' Cory. Better pic coming soon.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :)

Yes, the fish in the picture is a bit of a mystery...I'm not shure what it is...

For breeding the C. aeneus, a 50% cool waterchange should do the trick. You might want to transfer the female along with a couple of males to a tank of their own.

There's plenty of breeing info on this species, so a "google" would reveal a lot :)

If you're really hooked on Corys, you should check out http://www.corydorasworld.com :)

Hi,

I'm not an expert on identifying corydoras, but I looked in the Cat-E-Log and I believe your fish to be the

I think your mystery fish is Corydoras acrensis, a species that is probably more widespread in the hobby than we think. It is closely related to Corydoras trilineatus and is probably imported as contaminants along with it.

Wow! After comparing both species of Cories together that you two both suggested, I'm almost positive that it is a C. acrensis. Thanks so much! Heres the promised better pic of her/him.
