Paleatus like cory?

Went to a LFS and saw 4 cories that were marked as C. paleatus, but they are more gold in color, than the silver I associate with C. paleatus. They also had a dorsal that rays didn?t form a straight line back to the body. The 3-5 rays were longer than the 1st ray. There was also a spot on the extension of the dorsal fin. Is this just a paleatus variation or a different species? I wish I had a picture, but had no camera and the store is about 40 min away. It just didn?t look right to me but I could see at least a pair in the 4 fish. Any help would be great. Thanks Chad
