L046

Are L046 generally available in the UK. Having never seen one in the flesh, I'd be interested to know if any PC members are trying to make them more obtainable. I'm currently cycling a Rio 300, seems to be taking for ever!!

I believe there is a good supply of L46 for the asking provided cost is not an issue in all of the Western world.
Here in the USA, small speciimens of ~1 inch are generally available for ~150US. I think that is fairly representitive, just adjust this price for your local currency.

I think that for the size I used for this example that I would be wary of those who ask for a higher price.

I would do some research and attempt to cut out the middleman. There aren't that many breeders to hunt them down and it shouldn't be too overwhelming a task to undertake.
That may lead to a 50% reduction from the retai price.
The situation is the same in the USA. Who you know matters more.

Any time a fish that sells for these kind of prices justifies doing what it takes to find a source other than a retail vendor.

Just my opinion, but it would never occur to me to buy from the end of the chain of distribution. Most breeders will bend their rules if you are willing to buy 6 or more at their price. It is still a respectable piece of change for them.

Many thanks for the replies. I would be interested in getting a small group but not at £220 each!! Have just seen some go on ebay for £180 each, still out of my league though.
