synodontis eupterus colour question

Post by Angelface23 »

As listed in the Cat-eLog...there is only one syno eupterus...regular lol

someone claims that there is a "spotted" variety...but as listed in their adult colouration that the adults have the spots and juvies have swirls etc.

they claim that there is another variety of Eupterus with swirls as an adult. but at what size do they become "adults" or what age?

Leaving it up to you Syno experts as I'm quite curious since I cannot find ANY thing on this "spotted" syno or "swirled" syno variety that is a Eupterus.

Thank you! :)

Yes, there's only one S. eupterus and as far as I know it doesn't have any subspecies. Perhaps the person you mention is refering to:
- a yet undescribed species, which could be named Synodontis cf. eupterus
- one of the many hybrids that pop up these days which may be sold as S. eupterus
- or of course another (valid) species which has been given an incorrect name
