What kind o synodontis are these????

Any help identifing these synos would be great.....

man, that's a tough one cause they're so small and the white gravel doesn't help one bit!

like many catfishes Syno's get very pale on such a substrate.

if you'd put them on a darker substrate we can see -maybe!- if they're nigrita, ocellifer or hybrids.

I kinda lean towards hybrids; the body spots are a bit too big for nigrita, and a bit too regular for ocellifer.....

the tiny one in the lower left corner looks like one of those Czech-made critters to me.
but because of their bleached out coloration and juvie size it's still hard to see.

but they are NOT eupterus, multipunctatus, granulosus, petricola, polli, "polli White" or robbianus.
what was the label in the LFS?

They called them....Are you ready......synodontis angelicus

Then they certainly foisted off hybrids on you.

the ocellifer and nigrita are cheap. and often imported. both are hardy, easy to care for species, hence it's not needed to 'disguise' them with a name of another species, as they are very common in the trade.

but one of the trademarks of hybrids is that they almost always carry the name of a wanted expensive species.
if i were you i'd get my hard earned money back!

Hmmm, pretty certain these are hybrids (as indicated previously).

Although not typical, there are some retailers who really don't know one catfish from another & some species are labelled ridiculously badly, although Sid's point is spot on.

they are ocellifers, they look exactly like my baby ocellifers did when they were that size, and mine grew into perfect examples on an adult ocellifer
