Synodontis decorus normally has 2-4 dark bars on each lobe of the caudal fin and short ramifications on the maxillary barbels.
So, I would say they're not the 'real thing'.

Deedee is right. My goodness, what have they done to these fish?? Especially the fish in the upper picture looks like a caricature with that compressed body. Nasty.
And "wild"? Yes, I would get pretty wild if someone tried to sell me these as S. decorus wild.

I agree with the others, definatly not true decorus. unfortunatly it seems to be yet another hybrid. :(

the dorsal rigid fin ray isnt quite the right shape and the dotted markings over the head are too large. And the humeral process (from what i can make out) is pointed as opposed to the more rounded and blunt tip that you would find in true decorus.

The humeral process and head markings are reminisant on S. multipunctatus, perhaps its a hybrid between multipunctatus and decorus, or worse still maybe a hybrid betwee the hybrid multipuntatus we have seen and decorus? :?

I forgot do add this, the fish are only 1,5cm so they are tiny. Maybe this puts it in a different light?

The chez had two decoruses on their list one "breeding rom" and this the "wild".

No. These fish have rift lake synodontis parentage.

and decorus in the mix as well.

but as said before, with these it's not just the pattern that's not right, but the whole fish is stumped.....

it's like someone attempted to breed a "balloon Syno" or a "midget Syno"....

they don't even have the proper shape anymore. :(

baby decorus are slim. almost like brichardi or petricola. everything is in proportion. not like this little monstrosity.

best get your money back, these are the "parrot fish" in the Syno-world; worse than hybrids wich have a mixed pattern but a regular shape.
a new low.

Thanks all, NOW when I look at the list I see 3 decorus on the list.

Synodontis decorus "breeding form"
Synodontis decorus "wild"
Synodontis decorus

Off course I should have chosen the last :x , it's double the price of the two first so that might be a good sigh too.

Before you do ANYTHING, ask for a picture first. Perhaps the double price in this case indicates a "syno" with double fins, a lionhead and bubble eyes.
What on earth are those Czechs up to??
