Pictus Cats
I have 3 goldfish, 1 orange shark, 2 black tipped sharks, 1 pleco, 2 painted fish, and 2 Pictus cats. I have recently put two pieces of small PVC pipe in the tank for them to hide in because they are very timid. My one Pictus just used to stay in one corner. Ever since I put in the PVC pipe in they got scared out of their corner and won't go in the PVC pipe. Why are they doing this?

How long has the pipe been in there? It is my experience that most cats take some time to get used to the presence of the pipe and discover that it's a good hiding place. The other possibility is that the diameter of the pipe isn't right. Some catfish are picky about the size of the pipe...too big or too small and they steer clear of it.

well they are still small (about three inches long.) and the pipe has a diameter of 1 inch and has been in there for about 1 day now
