ID needed - Silver / Black Type of Whiptail?

Post by smithrc »

Ok folks... Its not very often that I cant work out an ID myself but this little beauty has me stumped...

I saw them some time ago in a local store, took a picture and thought - When I have room - I'll get a few...

Well I'm now trying to work out what the heck they are to try and get hold of some....

The photo from my old phone dosen't do them justice - they were a striking sliver with black... Unfortunatly I didnt get any other photos or a pic of the name / price tag :(

Any Ideas?

Not doubting you... does the head shape look the same?

Top fin shape will vary I guess but all in the tank had the same shape top fin... (6 or so fish)

I bought some of the same batch. I thoroughly enjoyed keeping them, but I passed them on.

They are a species with a large distribution, and as a result are quite variable.

I could be wrong, but I think the snub nose is a result of tank breeding (these fish are Czech I think).

You often see the bent rostrum in many types of whiptail as they are liable to freak out and bash into the sides of the tank.
