Whilst I fully understand your concern, I would like to clarify that this is not something PlanetCatfish can do much about, as the advert is provided by Google ads - the only option to prevent this ad from occuring would be to stop using Google ads as an income for the site, which would remove a decent income from Jools budget for running this site.

The way google ads work is that they get paid by the advertizer, and Google finds "matching subscriber sites" to send adverts to. Obviously, a shop selling Plecos matches a website about plecos, so that means that google are doing their job right (unlike some other instances I've seen!).

Of course I don't know the details of your transaction with Keith but I have ordered a few thousand dollars worth of plecos and discus from him and I have had a few problems but we always communicated with each other and they were resolved.
Now I'm all the way up in the State of Washington and he always packed the fish better than most but they always got here in time. I'm close to 2500 miles away and you are a few hundred miles away. There must be more to this story because he is not a thief. He does not take peoples money and then doesn't send the fish. If you got your fish but they died a few days later, well it is their clearly stated policy is that only live arrival is guaranteed.
What happens in the followimg days after you take control of the fish is not under his control.
There is something fishy here but I would like to know both sides of this story. Perhaps you could enlighten us. What exactly has gone down. A few hundred dollars is nothing to him. As I said, I'm just one customer who has spent several thousand dollars there and he has many others. There is nothing in it for him to keep your couple hundred dollars and not send the fish.

I see. Is the $242 dollars the dfference in price between the species ordered and the species recieved or is it that you were sent the wrong fish and they are equal in value but not what you wanted. If it's the latter and the fish were equal value just the wrong fish then that would be different from being ripped off for the money. If the fish you paid for were much more expensive than those you received and the differnce in price was $242 then you should have been given at the very least credit for the difference or refund of the difference with an apology.
I always send a photo if I have a DOA or the guy packing the fish makes a mistake and sends the wrong fish while they are still in the plastic shipping jars and have always received the credits.
I would prefer that I get a refund but I know very few online fish vendors that will do that. The common practice is to credit your account to be used in the next order. As I said, I object to that policy but it is virtually uniform across the board within the industry. It is one of the hazards of buying on-line.

Actually, that's not strictly true. The Google ads placement is quite sophisticated and I can stop particular sites advertising by URL or by company. However, I wouldn't normally do this on the basis of an individual issue.

I would however, for example, ban adverts from folks selling dyed fish.

I just went to that web site. That's the first time I've ever seen an L-147 shown for sale. The photo showed an L-147. But, I was a little leery. The description said "some have spots on the head, some don't." In the future, I would recommend calling them to make sure they have exactly what you want to avoid substitutions.
