New Eheim 2026 Filter For My Trigon 190
New Eheim 2026 Filter For My Trigon 190
The internal filter supplied with the Trigon 190 is a good biological filter but when it comes to mechanical filtration in my opinion it just doesn't do the job. I have a well stocked aquarium and the water was not as clear as i wanted it.
I was therefore on the lookout for an additional filter, external to the tank. After reading many reviews/comments I chose the Eheim 2026 cannister filter. The average price at the moment for one of these complete with filter media is about £120-130. I found a web site selling them for £89.99 (1st4aquatics)with media which i think is a bit of a steal. Anyway, it arrived yesterday, looks very impressive and am looking forwards to crystal clear water.
Has anyone fitted an external filter to a Trigon 190 ??

I don't know a thing about Trigon's, but I have 2 Eheim 2026 filters(I love the package deal with the media and input/outputs): one on a 75 gallon and one on a 55 gallon(just set up). The 55 gallon tank is set up on an oak dresser, not on a traditional tank stand. So, the filter is a bit further away from the tank than I'd prefer. It started up quite easily.
I'll second what Mats said. The biofiltration works a little too well sometimes. I heard some strange noises coming from the output holes of the 75 gallon tank a few weeks ago. I had to take it apart. There was a massive plug of "bio-material" blocking the output(this took 2 years to build up). This filter is quite good at doing it's job.

i looked up the site (seems a good offer, got a question though
how can the 2026 without media be more expensive than with media look
but the price on the 2028 is good, but think i'm gonna go for a fluval FX5 on my 400l tank

The 2026 with media is probably cheaper because it's on a special offer price, whilst the 2026 without media is just the normal price - I'm just guessing, but it wouldn't be the first time some place has "crazy prices". [I'm a bit of a geek, so I will compare prices when I shop at Tesco's for example, and find quite often that it's less expensive to buy 2 x 2.5kg potatos than it is for 1 x 5kg - if only by a few pence].
