Name this Doradidae-- Sold as "Marbled Ripsaw"

Post by Dawg57 »

I got my LFS to order a P. Niger for a friend of mine in July. In their order they also had 2 of these guys that were labeled as 'Marbled Ripsaws.' They were being sold for $35 and nobody bought them. I saw that they were still there a few weeks ago. They sold one to me for $10. The body is similar to the P. Niger but the head and color are different.

Overhere in Europe they are rather uncommon, which is alright because they get very large. I used to have one when my tank was crawling with snails and I've never had a better solution than the Megalodoras. However, it got too large and I had to return it.
Hope you'll enjoy it for as long as possible.

I hope to be able to keep this guy for life. The current plan is to construct a large tank/pond in my basement to house him and a cichlid community. A 125G will be his home until then.

That's a good intention indeed. I hope you'll be able to work out those plans.
