silver and black splotchy catfish

Post by layneypupu »

I work in a pet shop, in the fish department..and occasionally we get some random, neat stuff in our orders of ghost shrimp.
this week i got a cichlid, some strange lil eel and these 2 lil catfish. One is about 2 inches long, the other is close to 4... i apologize for the picture quality, my camera doesn't do well through the glass.
They have a silver base color with black "splotches" forming almost a marble effect. They also have very prominent "horns" in the nostril area.

That looks like a young brown bullhead (), although the color of the chin barbels suggests a young yellow bullhead ().

If you grow the fish up, you'd most likely see the color change considerably (doesn't look like you fish is all that silver anyway). Most bullheads reach over a foot full grown.

the pictures are very poor quality, but anyway. i figured they had juvenile coloration, though i hoped they would stay this color. oh well, i guess at over a foot they won't be staying in my 46 US Gal. tank  oh well.
thanks for the help.
