small,attractive,lively synodontis?

I was wondering if anyone could recommend a synodontis that does not spend all of its time hiding out of sight all day? possibly on the saller side & is not to dificult to spawn?

Synodontis nigriventris is one of the fish on my wish list.Are they readily available in aquarium shops?

9 out of 10 the offered "nigriventris" turn out to be baby nigrita or baby robbianus or something.
less effort for the wholesalesmen to get those.

btw S nigriventris is a nice Syno (I kept those for decades), but when it reaches maturity it does get extremely nocturnal.

if you really want more action and also archieveble breeding results go for petricola.

the main difference is that with petricola it's better to add rocks instead of wood, and it's more resistant to cichlid-tankmates.

If I went with syno.petricola what is the smallest tank required ,how many is a good # to start with etc.?

If you search for Petricola in the forum, you'll find LOTS of posts and breeding tips - there's also quite a few hits with google outside this forum.

Agreed - saw this at the weekend - lots of robbianus marked as petricola

A 30 gal, three foot tank would be a good start for a a group of petricola.

I think I like the sound of the petricola.How can I be sure that is what I am getting when I go to my LFS.? The tank I have availeable is a 35 gal. how many would be a good group for this tank?
