My rant is aimed at covering the relevant info on all MASSIVE cats. Something easy to access without needing registration etc. An addition to the log showing all the fish that would outgrow the average large home set up would help many people make informed decisions. If I go to a store and see a new ...

I have to say, I feel I could not be happy keeping fish this size! They probably need a tank the size of my house to be happy!! Maybe we need, as fish fanatics, to self police the sale of these big fish. Could planet catfish perhaps present some guidelines for the bigger cat varieties, names of fish ...

Yep, cetainly a tough one. As you can see above, I've struggled with my paroons but am in the fortunate position of being able to move them on... In my reply to your e-mail I said to return to the store you bought them, but as with me, you were an adoptive parent... I did not realise this at the ...

I agree with Silurus. Sounds like the guys I have. In Scotland they are sold as Dolphin Sharks/Paroon Sharks/ Hammerhead Sharks. My advice - Take them back!! They grow HUGE and eat EVERYTHING!!!!! MIne ate an adult gold sev. that I maistakenly placed with them short term. I wrongly assumed the sevs ...

pangs
Hey ho I recently acquired some homeless pangassius sangitswongi and struggled to id them at first. Now I know what they are! A seriously big fish- see my post in Asian Catfish . Over the past couple of weeks I've been wondering whether as keepers of fish we should be fighting against the trade of ...

Hey ho
Hmmmmm, ok, good fight though eh!! If you've any spare boots I'd take a couple of pairs if you want. If not, I wonder if my big old fish would eat a burmese?

A very very good friend of mine is a fish curator!! I take his amphibs for research, he will take the paroons... This is not poorly thought through. Your chip must weigh heavy!! If you need any workout tips to help your shoulders cope, I'd be glad to help. I'm delighted to be patronised by yourself ...

Thanks. It's all been absolute guess work up until now. I didn't even know what the things were called when I took them in. I have a fish breeding/keeping programme in my school and just took them in blindly cos they looked cool. Fortunately I have plenty of room for development and good links with ...

I was well aware that they'd out grow that tank, but did not realise it would be in a few months! I do have a spare 5ft tank I could set up as a temporary home. They are going to a public aquarium when they grow but I hoped I'd get a bit longer before I had to say goodbye!!! Oh well, we'll see- we ...

pangasius sanitswongi/paroon shark/dolphin shark
I have recently procured 3 of these fish. All about4" in length. I know they can reach 100" as adults and am making plans to supply them to a public aquarium when they out grow my set ups. I intend to keep them species specific as I believe they eat everything including pet dogs!! Just now they are ...

I don't know where you live Scott but in the UK you need a permit to keep channel cats so you may want to check this out.

Hmmm, help me too please
I have a similar syno to this, about 10 inches long with a single large spot down each side. Big eyes, this gregarious fish seems to love rubbing up against large silver dollars and tinfoil barbs. Cannot find a definitive name anywhere. LFS labelled simply as syno, and that's a store with a good ...

Columbian Shark Cats
More Brackish than Salt. Have a couple myself, they're cool fish but get big. Can be quite predatory so need mixing with fish who are tough enough!! I love the way they cruise the depths of the tanks, only to be bettered in my view by Dolphin Sharks!
