I already have a bristlenose! I wasn't sure about being able to adapt to the water conditions.

Thanks

Catfish for Calvus and Shell Dwellers?

Well, I was looking for something that would eat algae like a plec.

So, was wondering if there was anything to fit in that lake tang setup I could try?

Not very fond of the synnos

Oh, I forgot. It would be a 55 gallon setup

Whoa, must have missed that somewhere. I do have a little 10 gall setup for quarintine/hospital. I guess I'll remove the heater in it, and put the rubbernose in there until the weekend is up. Then I'll bring him to the LFS. I wouldn't want to be responsible for his death cause of hot water. One more ...

Thanks everyone, I suppose I got it. Brisltenose... adapted... eats algae, where as Rubbernose, rocks, not as adapted... only eats certain things.

Okay, so that means I should expect bristlenose to be a cleaner, where as rubbernose is more like a 'watch me' and not a cleaner?

Or does that mean bristlenose is better adapted, and the rubbernose may need sometime to become adapted?

Tank temp is generally 77-80 degrees given the temp of the room.

55 gal (within the next 6 months should be between 90-125 gal) Filtration is 2 55 gal hang on back filters, so I suppose about 110 gall filters :?: tankmates are an Oscar and female con. Tank has loads of wood and rocks: http://i197.photobucket.com/albums/aa126/jbjackson3004/1st-setup.gif This pic ...

Bristlenose VS Rubbernose

Okay, so I noticed my bristlenose is a moveer. He'll be all over the tank. Rubbernose stays under a rock, but at night I can see him on the glass. So, I was thinking about removing the BN, but I wasn't sure if the RubberNose would be able keep the tank clean? Also, I've got a lot of driftwood. My ...

Four-lined Pimodella or Pictus

I'm putting together a 55gal for a Jack Dempsey, and a Salvini. Figured a catfish would go nicely. So here I am. I was thinking a school of 3 pictus cats, or 1 Four-lined Pimodella. My main concern is waste production. Would one large 4 line be as much as 3 pictus? Are the 4 line schooling ...

Thank you, as you've been more than helpful. But please entertain my questions once more. I was thinking of having a final number of 12 cichlids. Along w/ the shark and bristlenose. Knowing that would you still suggest the 3-4 lucipinnis and 2 multi? PS: Filtration is some Wal-Mart HOB for 55 ...

How many?

Okay, so after debating and debating the pros and cons of pictus and synos, I've come to the conclusion it will be synos. Also, I've narrowed it down to 2 choices, which once I check into cost will more than likely help break the tie  So they are Synodontis multipunctatus and Synodontis ...

But where would I be able to find a school of these guys? Not usually sold at Petsmart, Petco, or any LFS in my area that I know.

Thanks Sidguppy.

I do believe I will stay away from Njasse after reading all that.

Anyone in particular you could recommend as a breeder?

So, say a school of 5 and these guys would be out active and about, and not all shy hiding like the single one I saw at the LFS? Would 5 be to many or not enough in a 55gal along w/ a bristlenose(maybe 2, but right now its just 1) and Malawi cichlids? Are there reputable breeders around this site ...

So are these suggestions the same as Synodontis Njasse?

Or is that a completly different species? Because that is what I was leaning toward... Would he be an okay fit? and if so, how many are accecptable school for a 55gal?

Syno schooling?

Well, I'm setting up my African Cichlids in a 55 gal tank and before I was going to house them w/ pictus cats. Then I was told synos... I thought they were ugly until I finally saw one in person. The one I saw was by himself, I thought they were schooling, wouldn't be the first time the LFS was ...
