I also have 3 Sorubim lima which loosely school together but this time all 3 fish were bought on seperate occasions, the oldest of the 3 which is around 14" was bought 2 years before i added the other two which were bought within a few months of each other from different shops. I think the main ...

Going back to the topic Pimelodus ornatus can indeed be kept in a group and will school in much the same way as Pimelodus pictus do. Like the pictus they need to be in a group of 3 or more for it to work and they will have the occasional fight where a pair will zoom off around the tank chasing each ...

Hemisorubims will happily accept frozen foods so try feeding a few frozen silver sides or white bait after lights out.

You could try feeding the Liearius some much larger food, i found that by giving my 20" L.pictus a whole fresh sardine (roughly 4 inches long) it meant that it spent long enough trying to swallow the larger food that the other fish in the tank could feed. Other than that there isnt much you can do ...

At least 2 more clown loaches should be added as they preffer some company of their own kind but really you should be looking at a larger tank before getting more fish, fire eels can reach over 2 feet and lima shovelnoses reach at least 12 inches.

It all depends on the dimensions of the 250 gallon tank, IMO with these sedentry long barbeled ambush specialists width is a more important factor than tank length. Whats wrong with just feeding frozen foods to your fish? My 3 limas and 4 baracudas (Acestrorhynchus falcirostris and Acestrorhynchus falcatus) all readily take whitebait, mussel, cockle and shrimp and are all in good health, plus no feeder fish have to suffer to keep them that way.

All your planned fish can be fairly easily weened onto frozen meaty foods such as white bait, cockles, shrimp and mussels. The baracudas may be a bit stuborn but once they get hugry should start to strike at anything silvery that drops though the water, limas once settled will eat practically ...

The Hemisorubim would also work as they are very similar in size and eating ability to the lima but a word of warning is that they are strictly nocturnal and quite reclusive, so if you want a fish that will be out and about where you can see it the lima is the best choice.

Personally i wouldnt keep them in a tank less than 5x2x2, they are a fairly active species which will make full use of the tanks length. I have mine in a 66x30x24" and wish that i could spare the space for a larger tank for them.
