French Catfish Forum?
Can anyone tell me if there exists a French catfish forum. I have been looking for one in hope of regaining my French skills. All I have found is general aquarium forums in French. Does anyone have an idea?

But I do agree with you that the Scandinavians have no problems in partisipating on English forums. We might suck a little in the terms of correct spelling, but people tend to get the point. I actually think that as much as 90% of the Scandinavians younger then 40'ish +/- know english pretty well ...

In Finland there has been a lot of talk about using clove oil to kill fish when it is necessary. Some people have used it with good results i.e. seemingly painless death. It can also be used as a fish anaesthetic . The dose to use to kill a fish is larger than that to use to put a fish to sleep and ...

I read in here of someone using it in a asian black water tank as a substrate, in the asian forum. I have a peat bottom in my 65-liter killifish tank. You can either buy peat from your LFS or from a flower or garden shop here where I live. Comparing the prices you might observe that peat is more ...

I exprerience the same thing sometimes. Normally they dig when they want to get under something like a rock or a piece of bog wood. My LDA 33 digs at night, usually in the front corners of the tank, though, there is nothing in there. Maybe he does it just for fun. One time a was obligated to keep my ...

I have six zebras in a 170 l tank with strong current and high temperature. I have decided not to have any tank mates and I would suggest the same to you, if you are planning to spawn them or else you might consider taking the tank mates away when the zebras are full grown. My zebras have eaten so ...

I have a bit different diet for Hypancistrus and Baryancistrus : with Hypancistrus the emphasis on meaty foods and with Baryancistrus on green foods. My panaqolus seems to like the kind of food I give to hypancistrus but likes veggies more than they do. I have tried with succes the following foods ...

A very good question, Anders. I would be very interested to get some sort of an answer to that. I have two LDA 33's, too. Both LDA 33 and L 142 seem to come from Rio Tapajos and belong to genus Baryancistrus . Information that I have got from scattered sources on the web maintains that LDA 33 comes ...

How's he doing? just wondering: why didn't you use a QT? Thanks for asking, Klaus. He is doing fine and has put on some weight and does not look skinny anymore. Nice Haiku, but I'm not sure how much of the day going by a zebra can see 10 metres down! :) But when he is in my tank... Anyway, I didn't mean it quite so concretely... but the next one is a very concrete haiku about my Baryancistrus sp. LDA 33: My mighty catfish chased away other plecos. Prize ...

I change 50 % every sunday in my sparsely populated tanks. Sometimes I do the same on thursday, too. Tap water parameters are great in Helsinki area: very soft and neutral water. In addition to keeping nitrates down, one of the key ideas behind the habit is to keep the aquarium water and tap water ...

Compatibility in a catfish community tank
I am considering setting up a catfish community tank of 490 l the main water parameters beeing: 27,5 C, pH 7,0, KH 2,0, a powerhead producing current. Could I have there these fish? - 4 Synodontis flavitaeniatus - 10 Corydoras sterbai - 2 Baryancistrus LDA 33 (- 1 + 2 Apistogramma nijsseni - 6 ...

How do you clean the tank of poop etc when using fine sand. I use a normal syphon for small pebbles and these sometimes gets sucked into the dirty water bucket? Köning Löwe, I ordered a Eheim 1262 powerhead, a Sera nitrate test and some Eheim spear parts and a filterplate before Christmas. I chose cash-on-delivery payment and received all things within a month except for the fiterplate, which they didn't have on the stock, but I didn't had to pay for that, ...

Centrifugal pumps and current
How effective, in l/h, a centrifugial pump should be used to create the needed current to a zebra breeding tank of 490 l? I have currently a 3400 l/h Eheim 1262 in addition to filters. I consider it inadequate. I am pondering purchasing a Tunze turbelle stream 6080 of over 8000 l/h - hopefully that ...

Thin pleco
I made a mistake: I purchased a pleco, Baryancistrus sp. LDA 33, and realised no sooner than at home, that he was a bit thin from the stomach and the face but the eyes were not sunk in. What are his chances to survive? He is eating very well and is the most active fish in the 490-liter tank, the ...
