Just looked up this topic that I posted a while back seems to be all about AC now. Funnily enough I grew up in uk so I am not exactly used to the heat but all the same we don't have AC. Portuguese people say it is bad for your health, I'm more woried about my pocket. We do have one of those little ...

This idea is very interesting. I've seen mini fridges for sale for like 50 euros here. One question though. Is it not difficult to regulate the temp without constant attention, for example do you still run the pipe through the frigde at night? Is there not a danger of the water getting too cold or ...

Snail - I hope that 42'C is the temperasture in the air, not indoors where you tank is [hopefully you keep the tank inside, not outside!] In warm climates, placing the tank on the inner walls in a house helps, rather than along a sundrenched wall. Also read up on subjects about "cooling tanks" if ...

It can get up to 42'C here but it's rare but 30+ temps are pretty taken for granted for July and August. The rest of the year is no prob but I'm worried about this, anyone else with experience?

Will high summer temps be a problem for cories?

As you may have seen from other posts I am planning on getting my first cories soon. :) One concern I have is that the summer gets hot here in Portugal and I know cories don't much like high temps. Do you think this will be a problem? I have read that some varieties such as sterbai are more tolerent ...

It will be fine for the plants I want. Won't it tend to drift about alot though and leave bare patches on the tank bottom?

So far I just have the tank, 78 gallon. It will be planted and decorated with wood. The other inhabitants will be about 100 cardinal tetras, thats it. It's going to be a couple of months before I can set up the tank so it's just in the planning stage :) . (I have fish already just not in that tank ...

[quote="MatsP If you add your location in your profile (as is a forum rule), then it's more likely that people who know what's available in Portugal will also give advice that APPLIES in Portugal. Gravel or sand for cories?

I'm going to set up a 78 gallon thats going to have a school of cories in it. I'd rater use normal gravel (not sarp) but I've read sand is better for cories. Does it matter?

Healty is good :)

I like the typical short fat and cute cory shape best I think, but there are still loads of them. One that is fairly bold during the day would be ideal. More favorites and why.....keep them coming :D :) :D :)
