Oil fish
As far as I know the only exporter in Peru calling T. perugae Oil Cat is Aquarium Lima, (they have exported them as that for many years) Everyone else calls them Novia. I'm sure you all feel a little wiser ( and a bit more bored zzz ) for knowing that. As for where they get the name for oil cat from ...

pH
I keep mine around pH 7.5, that is not to say they will not fair well at different pH's. I would not go below pH6.5 and would try to keep it above pH7.

LDA33 Snowball Baryancistrus
Just to put my two penneth in I would say it is LDA33 as well. Not only is the head a dead ringer but the curved dorsal fin is also typical. If you can look at the dorsal when errect does the base of the dorsal where it joins the body (tail end) have a little webbed piece of membrane that goes ...

Is it really L75?
The true L75 comes from the Para state in Brazil hence the name para plec. The true Para plec has a pale sandy brown body with big brown body spots and smaller brown spots on its head, the distinguishing feature is large spots on its RED dorsal and RED caudal fins. There are 3 other fish often ...

Feeding L47
I do not find feeding L47's is difficult if they are kept on their own or with other L47's. I normally feed raw peeled potato and flake food. Obviously other greens would do as well but I can't be bothered to tie a lead weight to everything. The biggest problem with getting them to feed is ...

1. Sorry I do not have photos, it was before I got a digital.
2. You are right the yellow does get less although there is still some on the tip of the dorsal and plenty on the tail. the yellow tips on the other fins had gone though.

nasty or not?
As you can see from the replys you have so far there are many different answers. the fact of the matter is that all fish are individual and whilst you may have an out and out fish killer you may also get a placid whimp. What I have found is that if you do get a slime sucker it tends to be smaller ...

pH
I don't know if a high pH stresses plecos, all I can say is that alot of plecos will throw a six (die) if the pH drops below about 6.5/6.0 some of them die straight away some just starve to death because they stop eating. Whereas I can keep any pleco that I have had(and I have had many thousands ...

peppermint plecos
Dear Doc, We import L30 all the time and regularly get several different species of fish all mixed in together. They are all dark colours with spots. Some are black, some are brown, some with few spots and some with lots of spots, some with white spots some with blue spots and some with yellow spots ...

L128/L200 are they the same?
I was lead to believe that L200(Venezuela) was the same as L128 but a different colour. In one part of the river the fish are green with yellow spots and in the other part of the river they are blue with pale blue spots. and in between they are a colour in between. We certainly see the 3 colour ...

We have Cetopsis coecutans in stock at the moment but unfortunately we are in the UK. I have kept these fish at home in a comunity setting and they do not appear to cause a problem with each other or to other species. My specimens that were kept in 'community' surroundings were only small, about 3 ...
