racoll: Yes of course, that's one half, and Kathryn having corall sand in the tank will add hardness and alkalinity too.

The only "obvious" thing is that they aren't the easiest fish to introduce to a tank. They tend to not feed well, which is considered to be caused by stress and possibly also mismanagement of the fish during the import/wholesale/shop phase of their aquarium life. So don't be too disappointed if a ...

Thanks for the swift reply.
How many would you recommend for my tank? I don't want to overstock. ;)
Well, I live in Edinburgh, where the water is very soft, but ages ago when I knew very little I was told to add coral sand to my water to raise the pH as the Mollies prefer it like that. I didn't know ...

Ooops, missed these out in the previous post.
I had some problems with algae a while back, and have some photos.
They are not the best but if you need them, use them:

Are Otocinclus suitable for my tank?

Hi everyone,
I have a 100 litre tropical community aquarium, quite densely planted with boogwood and gravel substrate.
Fish:
6 Black Phantom Tetras
1 Blue Ram (my other died very suddenly a few days ago, RIP little one)
4 Panda Corydoras
2 Mollies.

My water is very soft, but the pH is quite high at ...

Yes 26C does seem like an obvious compromise.
It's between 24 and 28, so I thought it would be best to keep it at 26. :)

Hi.

I agree. A very attractive natural tank.

The pictures of the rams are great. They look really healthy, but is my understanding that rams should be kept in warm water (27-30C) while the panda corydoras should be kept cool at 22-25C.

I don't have experience of either species, so I can't offer ...

I, at least for now, will not be adding another, or a different, filter, therefore no more fish for just now. I don't have the time to cycle a new filter, so that will have to wait for just now.
I am happy with the tank, so I shall probably not buy any more fish. I certainly do not want ...

Is that the tank fully stocked?

I have a 22 UK Gallon (100 litres) Tropical Community tank, with 6 Black Phantom Tetras, 2 Blue Rams, 2 Mollies and 4 New Panda Corydoras!
It is filtered with a Fluval 3 Plus Filter.
It has 50 Watts of lighting and an Eheim heater, if that makes any difference.
The water is fairly alkaline, with the ...

You could of course go with goldfsih, but in my opnion, it could look nice as a community tank. :)

I always like a MASSIVE shoal of Tetras in a tank, but of course it is up to you.
You could have 50 or so tetras, 4 clown loaches, and perhaps 6 otos.
I love Corydoras, so, if you were keeping your ...

Hi.
I have always been told, and books have told me, that Brostlenoses need around 30 gallons to thrive..? More than 10 Gallons anyway? WEll, that is just what I have found out. :?
There are many Tetras you could choose for your tank, such as Lemon Tetras, Glowlight Tetras, Bleeding Heart Tetras ...

I just thought I'd introduce myself here.

A little about my tank/s:

My 22 UK Gallon Tropical Community tank has been running for 9 months now, but it was just yesterday I added my first catfish. They are small and cute, Panda Cories!!
Even though I hve only had them for a day, I have ...
