first foods
OK, after 2 days of bbs these guys are well on their way, eating finely chopped blackworms like they were starving. I take the ball of worms and just chop them up between my fingers with surgical scissors. Messy process but better than using a razor blade which dulls pretty quick. I have customized ...

Spawning method
I'm using Hap obliquidens as a host, about 40 obliquidens and 3 pair of adult S. multi's in a 150 gallon tank. No rock work, just a piece of large drift wood, sand substrate and 8-10 flower pots for the Synos. The obliquidens seem to be open area spawners but sometimes spawn in the flower pots, the ...

Here's what I did...
I took the newest batch out of the net trap with my trusty turkey baster and placed them in a small plastic container that I had melted small holes about 2 inches from the bottom with a hot nail. I put the whole thing in the breeder trap and can now feed them bbs for the first week or so with no ...

First foods for Syno Multipunctatus fry
I've raised about 70 of these little guys in the past 4 months but I'm having trouble finding foods for the first couple of days. I've tried bbs but I keep the fry in the little net breeding traps for the first couple of weeks and most of the bbs ends up going out the bottom of the trap and the fry ...

I agree with using Victorian haps, they are very prolific, easy to sex and easy to condition. Right now I am using a large group (40 or so) of Hap obliquidens (true) with a group of 6 adult S. multi. When I notice the female multis growing thin I condition them in another tank for about a month and ...

S. multi's
I've got 2 females and 3 males, all of them are in the 5-6 inch range. I was spawning them in a 150 gallon tank using Hap. obliquedens as a host. There are about 50 obliq's in the tank also. I currently have my female S. multis in a 55 fattening them up and will add the males and a trio of the ...

Great! I was wondering about the beef heart since it fouls the water. I'm feeding it to my discus but the synos are tearing up blackworms and earthworms so I'll just stick to them. I've been putting the blackworms in a saucer of gravel every night and the next morning the gravel is thrown all over ...

Alternate spawning method? for S. multipunctatus
Hello all, I'm new on your board but I've got something I want to run by you, feel free to tell me that yes, it will work, no it won't or you're crazy. Over the last couple of years I've built a group of 5 adult S. multipunctatus (2 female 3 male), they are now housed with 40 Hap. obliquidens in a ...
