Royal Pleco Belly Colour

I have a 6" TL Royal Pleco Panaque that I have had for about 8 months. He is eating well and has superb patternation but I notices this morning where the lines normally are on his belly has turned white. There are no visible signs of infection and his belly is not sunken. Any ideas if this is normal ...

Lizardking,

I have never heard of LDA33's growing to 7-8". Are you sure you have them at this size?

All the literature and info. on the net says max size 4.5".

Your other post in this forum backs up (IMO) the theory of white spot disease.

Treat with suitable medication ASAP and raise temp of tank to 28C.

Feed the others on flake.

But I feed 2 Spirulina tabs per day. Idea is one per Pleco (L141 + L134) + sinking pellets for Corys.

Bloat? and what to do?

I have a small L134 (1.5"). He is eating well in a community tank but his belly seems bloated.

What can I do?
Stop feeding? I am feeding spirulina tabs.
Raise temp?
Treat with anything?

Any ideas?

Evan,

Personally I would go for a Royal. They have such characters and you can't beat that sound of them chewing/scraping at a piece of bogwood.

In the smaller L No's I like LDA33 (kids have named ours spotty. He is out all the time) or L134.

L134 - meaty foods?

I have just bought a small L134. Cat-elog states "Omnivorous with a tendancy towards meaty foods". What type of food would this be? I feed all my other pl*cos on spirulina tabs and Courgette. Also, LFS stated Hypancistrus L134 but Cat-elog states Peckoltia. L134 body shape certainly resembles my ...

Andy, Juwel tanks and stands/cabinets are designed so you do not need anything on the base on the tank. If your stand is 'bowed' or uneven i would suggest you take it back to the outlet you bought it from as this could be caused by water ingress into the chipboard. I am almost certain that if you ...

Sump trickle filters

Help, I am looking to setup a large tank (approx. 400L). I would like to use a standard sump trickle filter in a tank below the main tank. Are there any websites to show how to do this? I feed my L27 on blanched courgette (zuchini to our American friends) and algae tablets high in % algae.

Red Tail Sternella

Anybody know what one of these is.

I have looked in Cat-eLog and found nothing of this name.

Found in LFS priced at UK£15 labelled as Red Tail Sternella.
Approx. 1.5"
Looks like L075 Pseudocanthicus leopardus but so small can't really tell.

Any ideas?
