Clarias mouth size

Just curious, how big of a fish can big(About adult) sized clarias catfish eat? Their cute smile decieves me into thinking it can be big and small at the same time.....I'm not sure!

But it would be nice to keep on eof them cute long pink ones with other fish :)

Are raphael catfish supposed to be noisy?

Whenever I go near my 30 gallon growup(The fish in there are just too small to be realesed into the big tank) tank, the raphaels always make noises! The click, grunt, rumble, squeak, "fizz", and scape the bare bottom(Bare for easy cleanup) Are they supposed to be so noisly?! AT first, when I didn't ...

Re: Raphael catfish

Sadly, one died, but the others are fine. TOO fine, to be exact. The bellies are huge! They eat anything! And I thought they are nocturnal, but mine are just fine coming out during the day. And they swim around a lot and do funny tactics....... Do these guys swim a lot at night? Because almost every ...

Because raphaels are getting rare here, I'm planning on getting a school of them.

How many should I get to make a school? ABout 6? And are they happy in a school?

Re: Can a Raphael catfish kill a pl*co?

I was once bitten by my 11cm late(Dead, dried-up) raphael, and it didn't really hurt.

I think it's the oscar too. Was the bushynose's head all smashed up or something like that?

Re: My little pl*cos won't eat

Since they are so small, they are in a breeder trap. I had moved them to a 30 gallon, but they didn't eat, so I moved them back to the trap because the limited space may allow the mmore food. Well now they're eating a small amount of Tetrabits, and they seem to love grazing on the samll piece of ...

Re: My little pl*cos won't eat

Of course. Even the Neolamprologus caudopunctatus(Tanganikan cichld) eats readily.

And the funny things is that the bigger one eats everything, while they don't.

My little plecos won't eat

I have 5 little ancistrus sp.3 suckers, and they won't eat! The foods I gave them are Hikiri pleco wafers(I heard they are adored), normal sinking spilurina tablets, and tetrabits. They don't eat, and all the food spoils and I have to siphon it out. This has continued for about a week, and they aren ...

I do keep 2 sp.3, and yes, they thirve in hard water as you say.

Would keeping them temporarily in a 11 gallon be possible? Or should I wait until I set up that 30 with a external power filter ages? Because I have to be quick, people aren't gonna leave such a beautiful species alone.

Ancistrus sp.2 breeding

I have the opportunity to get a pair of the cool white dotted black ancistrus sp.2. Are they any different from other ancistrus? Also, the site says they are WC from Brazil. Would they have problems adjusting first to my 72 gallon Malawi cichlid tank(PH 8.0), and later to a private 30 gallon ...

Could I add a Royal pleco?

Hi, I was just wondering if I could keep a single Royal pleco(As I know they aren't schoolers) in my 72 gallon hardwater(PH8) tank. I have a few questions; The pleco(If I get one) will be a wild-caught juvie. Would it adjust to my hard water? I have a single ancistrus sp.3 pleco in the smae tank ...

Giraffe catfish gape?

Of course I'll never keep one of these awesome catfish unless I have a at least 6 foot tank(Which will stunt it and that's cruel) but how exactly big do you think their gape size is? Being rather similar to synodontis, I think it wouldn't be very big. And the CotM article said they could be kept ...

I've mixed 6-7 inch ones with two 1.5-2 inch ones.

I don't know whether I had weird fish, but the bigger ones chased similar sized ones away, they played with the smaller ones and shared caves.

Still, the more caves the better. :)

The WC ones are not sp.3, I said they are completely brown. They can bought at a place that specializes in rare SA fishes(Discus, plecos, corys, cichlids) The discus are mosy likely not WC, so it has a chance that the bushys aren''t wild caught. Bushy doesn't have his own cave. But as you say, the chasing aggresively is quite suspisious.

I'll see if I can get the WC Ancistrus pair.

Do I have a ancistrus pair?

I bought 6 Ancistrus sp. 3 in May at 1 inch, 4 killed themselves out of curiousity and 2 survived. One is 2.5 inches and the bristles can describe only a male, and the other is smaller with no hint of bristles at all. The bigger one is more aggresive, and chases the smaller one.
