I could maybe help walk you through shipping them? They're lovely fish that I would like to see more common in the hobby. Good job!

Re: Mixing Different sized Pseuda pleco
This one is hard to say, honestly. They can be quite obnoxious with newcomers. I would probably put him in a separate tank if you have one up and established already, just to ensure that shipping stress didn't keep him from thriving.

Re: Feeding Repashy
I feed more to the volume of the filtration and water volume, I think. I don't want to foul the water, but I want the fish to have all they want. If there's any left over after 12 hours, then I can reduce a bit for their next feeding.

These have not been regularly spawned and there are different locational variants available. You'd want to collect at least 6 from a single location. Have you researched their adult size?

Re: Fins down to nubs! Permanent?
Is it just one set of fins? Are they the only species in the tank? No damage to tails? What are you feeding? I would try mixing that up a bit with some better quality foods and see if they're potentially deficient in something as well as cleaning up the water.

Re: ID ?
That's the problem with fish in this particular "group". Without collection information, you're going to play hell figuring out if you even have the same variants. The locational specific groups still have quite a bit of variation, even when you know exactly where they were from.

Re: First L46 spawn
I use the warmer temperature to condition them, but I do make it cyclical. Once the fish look like weebles, I back it down to 86 or so and do some RO changes. Zebra eggs are not as yellow as other pleco eggs. Males sometimes need practice and are famous for leaving the cave to try to get lucky ...

Re: Feeding L107/L184 Brilliant Bristlenose
I keep them at 84 degrees, and I feed a variety of Repashy foods. My L184 tend to gravitate more to the Hypancistrus formula that I created, rather than the Ancistrus one, but will eat both, as well Spawn & Grow, given the opportunity. I tend to feed a variety for a few weeks, then focus more on ...

Read the instructions is definitely going to be top on the list of recommendations as it doesn't work the same for all species, but I did use it on 40 or 50 species of catfish, before I recommended trying it ;).

I recently had a really resistant strain of ich at the shop. It did not look like normal ich under the scope and it was not sensitive to the proform C treatments that usually are very effective. Re: Mysterious Royal Pleco Illness
Did you first do the water change with RO water to reduce the amount of waste in the water? Have you tested for ammonia or nitrite? What temperature are they? The sunken eyes would be attributed to stress and lack of eating, I would think, but it's difficult to say for sure. You can keep changing ...

Re: Mysterious Royal Pleco Illness
I would do a water change with filtered water, then start adding a gallon of tap water every 15 minutes until the pH comes up to 6.5 or so when you test it. If you've crashed the pH, you've probably also lost all of your bacteria in your filter, so ammonia will become exponentially more toxic as ...

Re: Mysterious Royal Pleco Illness
How are you sure the pH is 6.0? If you are using only purified water, the odds are good you're actually crashing your pH, without a good amount of buffer. People get it in their head that their tap water is unfit to drink, so fish would prefer it purified as well, but without some hardness and ...

If you get some individual shots from directly above, we can usually tell at a smaller size than the odontodal growth will indicate, as well. They will still have the smaller head, wider abdomen, curved pectoral indicators.

Re: BN plecs and african cichlids
It's a good idea to add a few hiding spots that the plecos fit into, while the cichlids do not. That usually keeps them quite safe. 12 is going to be a bit of overkill, IMO, so you'll want to feed them extra wafers or sinking food or you'll starve some out.

To properly prepare brussel sprouts for feeding, simply buy a bag of them frozen, drop the frozen sprout in a cup of boiling hot water, and wait a few minutes until the water has cooled. Take the tender sprout, cut it in half, and then squeeze a bit. Drop that in the tank and fish will descend on ...
