Pictus- Free to good home

I have a pictus that doesn't seem content in the 4 foot tank in which he is kept. Most references suggest a tank of 3 foot but this fish is very active and I would like to see him in a larger tank. If there is anybody with a tank of at least 6 foot and would like to rehome him please let me know. I ...

Pimafix from API is very good and I have never seen a bad reaction from my plecs when using it.
As for being reclusive, I recently added a couple more L260s and now they are out every time I feed.

Sterbai spawning

As I type this my sterbai are at it like the proverbial rabbit! Question is; how to remove the eggs from the glass front? I've tried a razor blade but have only had a 25% success rate. I need to be quick as the black widows and platies are queing up for a free meal!! The few that I've managed to ...

L260

I recently picked up an L260, size approx. 70mm TL. The belly is all white. I would like to get another to see if they will breed in a community set up. Can anyone tell me at what size the marbling on the males belly appears. At the moment I'm assuming I have a female but would like to know for ...

Thanks for the replies. Would the same be true of Cories and Brochis? I have 6 Cory gold stripe at the moment, soon to be joined by 10 pygmaeus, I don't think I'll have trouble with these crossbreeding. I wanted to add another small shoal. Would Brochis be OK? I know they're closely related and ...

Cory Hybrids

Is there much chance of cories crossbreeding if a few different species are kept in the same tank?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Larry. Have you had any success breeding the Bamboo shrimp? I picked up three today, a male and two females. I've heard that they require salt water to breed but I'm not sure if this is right. Any info would be much appreciated.
thanks, chris

Many thanks for the replies. I would be interested in getting a small group but not at £220 each!! Have just seen some go on ebay for £180 each, still out of my league though.

L046

Are L046 generally available in the UK. Having never seen one in the flesh, I'd be interested to know if any PC members are trying to make them more obtainable. I'm currently cycling a Rio 300, seems to be taking for ever!!

Thanks for the reply, I think you're right to stay with natural materials. I posted same question today on plecofanatics and one of the answers raised the subject of a plec rasping on the material and ingesting polymers!! Better safe than sorry.

Fimo polymer clay

I have come across a product called Fimo polymer clay. It's available in many colours and some natural looking stone shades. Once the right shape has been made it can be fired in a conventional oven at 130' C. Has anyone tried this before? It looks ideal for making caves etc. As it's aimed at ...

Thanks hellocatfish. Subtle no! Good sound advice and well received. I have no real problems, all tests well within accepted levels, but I take on board your bandaid statement. With a UV, I may well miss something that good husbandry would not allow to happen in the first place. Thanks again.

How about starting a poll of which test kits we use. I think it would be good to compare ease of use, accuracy, how easy they are to read etc?

As I constantly travel all around London , Luton and Cambridge for my job, I would be interested to hear about good shops with catfish in these areas. Particularly Luton and Cambridge.
