Re: I have a dying pleco

Thank you for all your responses. Plec passed away on August 28th. Been too emotional to respond before. We cremated him...his armor was such that it was like a Vikings cremation on a raft...the fire raged around him and he lay there strong. He was in perfect shape and beautiful ... actually said we ...

Re: I have a dying pleco

Thank you Naturalert. Didn't get your full message the first time. I give Plec sinking algae tablets. I feed Oscar first with frozen Mysis semi thawed (he wolfs them quickly so there is no left overs), ciclid pellets and shrimp pellets all interchanged. While Oscar is busy eating, I put the sinking ...

Re: I have a dying pleco

Thank you Naturalart. I know my Plec and I know he's in distress. Sorry if I've sounded outrageous with my concerns. I got him right after my blue betta...he's the second fish I've ever owned. Cause of him and how much I cared about him, I now have a 20 gal, a 75 gal and finally a 90 gal for him as ...

Re: I have a dying pleco

Thank you for you reply. I'm not quite as devastated as yesterday. He's still alive but struggling. I think it may be dropsy and am going out to buy marci...something that they recommend. I'm not very original in my names but Plec was housed in a 90 gal. tank with Oscar (an Oscar fish). Oscar would ...

I have a dying pleco

Oh dear! Don't know what to do. Been trying to get back on this site for most of the day. My beautiful pleco is on the substrate upside down and breathing hard. All of his coloring is a very defined pattern (whitish and black)as opposed to his usual grey. His tail is red and black. I think his tummy ...

Re: Bristlenose breeding didn't happen?

Thank you for your quick replies. There are no other fish in their tank. I have a castle ornament that has a tunnel through it. The albino lives a lot in that tunnel. I'm loosing track but they were one of my first fish...think that was 4 to 5 years ago. Are they too old to reproduce?

Thx,
Shar

Bristlenose breeding didn't happen?

Hi! Been awhile since I posted here. I put a female albino bristlenose(no whiskers) with a normal male bristlenose (whiskers). It's been close to a year and no babies. I do weekly waterchanges. Am I sucking up the eggs? Is there a chance that an albino bristlenose without whiskers could be a male or ...

Thank you everyone! Great information! I'm looking forward to them having babies and guess will know then if the male has an albino gene.

Thx again,

Bristlenose mating

Hi Mats! You told me long time ago to put my albino female bristlenose with my male normal colored one. Been awhile, but I just put the two together. Can you advise what I need to look for if they have babies...and if they do, are the babies safe in that tank or do I need to transfer the babies to a ...

Just contributed $25 to catfish world. I really have appreciated all the info I've gotten from it. Don't know if it will show cause I used Betta Blue but it doesn't matter. I just wanted to thank you for all your help!

Wow! Lots of info on your last post. Thanks Mats! My male bristlenose is quite reclusive. My female Albino is out and about all day. I will advise how they take to each other when united. I seem to keep collecting tanks and always looking for bigger ones. I will keep all my tanks thanks to your ...

Re: Stocking New 20 gal.

I read Richard B's post and was quite excited though I don't know if my two know they can breed...long time that they've been in their own habitats without any interaction from their own species.

Re: Stocking New 20 gal.

I plan on moving my two bristlenoses together into the 20 gal. in about 3 weeks or so. The bristlenoses have lived apart "happily" in two separate tanks coming 3 years this Oct. Is there a chance of some territorial issues. I will bring the castle that my albino lives in into the tank to give her ...

Re: Stocking New 20 gal.

Thank you but I just read a five page forum back a few years ago and would breeding an albino and a regular plec be unethical? I love my female albino plec and she's much more active throughout the day than my male who sits behind the heater (not even under the bogwood) and maybe he's active at ...

Re: Stocking New 20 gal.

I thought Discus didn't like plants and a 20 gal. setting sounds a bit small for them. I will check out the Conga Tetras. Thanks for the input. Definately looking for some fish I don't have and I sort of like the unusual :-) I feel like I have this big opportunity to do a species tank!

Stocking New 20 gal.

Me again! Had a friend drop off a 20 gal. tank at my doorstep cause he knew I couldn't refuse, and I would like some recommendations of some new fish to keep. Gone to my LFS and have been advised German Blue Rams (apprehensive of them cause my water is hard here), Rainbows or Barbs...all in stock ...

Thank you everyone for your response. Afraid I'm working on April 7th...not finished til 9pm earliest...never can get to the Edm. club events. Hi again Birger! Afraid I tried your site for Edmonton Fish Society and when I tried to email them, it came back as an invalid email. I will see if I can source them otherwise. The site you mentioned only had very old ads...like 2006.

Re: help finding 2ft wide aquarium

Thank you Birger! I will try them again. In the end, my husband got so frustrated that he bought a new filter and told me ...

help finding 2ft wide aquarium

Help! Been over a year and a half that I've been trying to find a used 2 foot wide aquarium. I have seen bigger aquariums than 90 gal. for sale but none are 2 feet wide. I have a 90 gal. for my common plec. He's now 12 inches and I'm starting to panic. I phoned a local fish store that does custom ...

I definately have a boy! Does that mean I should try to find a girl for him? At least I think I know what to look for. I put smooth rocks in the tank for him when I first got him. He did sit on them the first couple of days...then he went to the bog wood and really rasped on half of it. Now he's on ...

Thanks! My guy(girl)...can you differentiate? has a wonderful appetite. On the glass constantly and eats Wardley algae tablets. Thank you for your info. I think I'm screwing up here. I have no problems with water changes that I do regularly. I'm just posting this cause I'm sure there are more people like me, that I'm sure have to try to figure out where they find the time to take care of their fish. I work up to 15 hours a day. I come home exhausted, spend about 3 hours asleep and wake up to do water changes! I had asked why no one asks ...
