takin them out and placing them in a container will give you a better pic for id. I usually take a good one from above.

when my male sits on eggs his tail seems to bounce up and down while looking in at him from the side. They are quite adept at hiding eggs from you. Just keep an eye on him and his cave. Don't be intrusive with the flashlight, but in about 7 days look into the back of the cave, you may be surprised.

Actually had a chance to have my female out the tank, and I gotta say, ignore the hair on the tail. My girl has a little too. And I stand corrected, that fish 1 is a female. Been awhile since I actually looked at my girl. Like 2 years. Now just make em comfy and they will do the rest.

That is what I thought as well. Are you basing that on the shape of the fins?
