also... and kinda off topic... but do corys like glosso? I know that glosso can grow in kinda thick, cutting off the view of the sand. is this bad for corys?

ideal ph, gh, kh...

From reading around I've found that ammonia and nitrites should always be at 0. Nitrates should be below 20 ppm. But what about ph, gh and kh? I getting pygmy cories and want to make sure they have ideal water conditions before they arrive. Also, what test kits do you recommend that will test ph ...

alright. then you should be fine. just experiment with feeding a little bit more at a time. as soon as you notice there are left overs then lessen the feeding a tad until you find the perfect amount.
no need to fret too much over it. you'll figure it out with time. :D

i wouldn't get more if the cories you have now aren't getting enough food. i'd guess that more cories equals more food but you definitely don't want to overfeed. do you have any aggressive fish in the tank? if its just a peaceful community setup I'd say that the extra cories shouldn't be a problem ...

i really don't want the tank to look bare with so many dwarf fish.
could the tank take more? or is that pushing it?

edit: oops.. spotted rasboras not harlequins... brain fart

I really don't want to risk anything.

maybe 6 spotted harlequins, 8 or so pygmies, 10 cherry shrimp???
numbers sound right?

i've planned on feeding the adfs bloodworms, earthworms and daphnia. from what i've read they should do well on such foods. i think i'll start with my adfs and shrimp so they can adjust to the feeding schedule and their new home before introducing the pygmies. hopefully their acclimation period and ...

thanks so much.

ya, i'd definitely like to go with less aggressive shrimp. are cherry fire shrimp okay? or are they too aggressive?

and would less shrimp mean more fish room? say, instead of 10-20 shrimp, i got 5 but added 6 dwarf spotted harlequins? prolly just wishful thinking...

thanks

i'm doubtful. usually bait is made to smell appealing and its not too good for much else. so i'd guess that bait probably shouldn't be trusted as a fish food. i wouldn't think bait would be particularly healthy for fish.

but i'm no expert. just thinking out loud.

i'm thinking combo 1 might work.

if i had 3 adfs, 3 ottos and 3 shrimp, could i keep around 5 pygmy corys? less? more?

pygmies and adfs?? and various other questions

I have an empty 10 gallon tank that i hope to fill with one of the following combos. 1: ADFs, pygmy corys, ottos, shrimp will the frogs and corys get along? i know adfs aren't at all aggressive eaters. will the pygmys dominate the feeding? 2: pygmys, kuhlis, ottos, shrimp too many bottom dwellers ...
