Hi Guys, thanks muchly for the responses..
Given that my water parameters are reasonable, & that all the other fish are fine, I will rest assured, & chuckle rather than worry in future..

Farting Cory
Hi, I have a C. Aeneus (albino) with a rather antisocial problem.. I first noticed because it was swimming with it's tail at a 45 degree angle, and releasing occasional bubbles. I looked into swim bladder disorders, and tried fasting for a day, then feeding cooked green peas. It swims at a level ...

I have only one otocinclus (golden) so my experience is limited, but this one has just been removed for bad behavior. No slime sucking as such (not more than the odd lick anyway) but it has been consistently malicious toward my ancistrus, hogging food, & chasing first the female, and later the male ...

Hi and Thanks. Unfortunately, however the hydras are in the egg & fry tank, so i suspect they'll need to go, unless i could move them to the bigger tank. Is there a non-chemical way to remove them? - as there are no fish currently in the tank could i try hot/boiling water? I've read that they have ...

Hydra surprise
I'm just back from seven long weeks away from by beloved tanks, and i find the little tank swarming with hydras. What is a hydra; friend or foe? How do i get rid of them (assuming i need to..? ) How did they get there in the first place?

Ancistrus laying period
Wednesday night at 10pm i caught my female Bn coming out of the male's cave. In true cinderella style, she dropped an egg on the way out, so i know why she was there... What i'm wondering is do they lay all in one go, or will she take a day or two to complete the process? I'm planning to transfer ...

Has anyone ever noticed signs of imbreeding when bristlenose siblings pair up? I got my male and female at slightly different ages, because i thought that gave me better odds, but for all i know they may still be from the same parents.. (please excuse me if this is hijacking, but it seems a related ...

It's a question we face in every other area of life too; what is the true impact of our actions. Its the macrocosm reflecting the microcosm and vice versa in a beautifully simple example. Is it appropriate to do this, and if we do it anyway, how can we make it as worthwhile as possible? It seems to ...

Hmm, i'm glad to hear someone else say it. I've been pondering this a lot lately; whether it is hypocritical to keep fish in glass boxes, especially fish taken from their natural habitat. The only cause i can see is selfishness, born of that habitual sense that 'Humans Own The World'. We can say ...

To post or not to post, that is my question
I read in the 'Forum Code of Conduct' that you'd prefer we not make trivial posts. Understandable enough. By that reckoning, this may be one of them, and if so i apologise profusely, but i'd like to know if it's appropriate to post thanks when a reply is carefully answered..? Not wanting to create ...

S'all ok now, tried again sucessfully and not even dented. I don't know whose sigh of relief was louder. Little guy's been gorging on bloodworm at lights out (better that than bristlenose kittens ) and hasn't yet realised he needs to move house..

Help! Stuck Bumblebee
Having a mini-emergency with a bumblebee who has got its head stuck. Unfortunately its inside a rock, and so i don't think i can enlarge the opening. The only way out is backward, so i've tried tapping the rock VERY gently, and i've tried using a cottonbud to push its nose, however i don't know how ...

Re-cycling query
I am about to set up a new tank, and i'm wondering if i can speed up the cycling process by putting the new filter sponge in the old tank for a few days to build up some bacteria, and also wondering if using some 2nd-hand water from the old tank to add to the new one would help the process along too ...

Asian Bumblebee
I bought a Bumblebee from the lfs (well, actually 2), and it turns out to be Asian not South American, which is just a little bit scary! The good news is i'll have to get another tank :D . What size tank would be a comfortable fit, and what would be too small? They are 3-4cms at present, at what ...

Re: "Catfish Basics Pt. 4 : How to spot catfish geek" by Shane Linder I saw my first bristlenose on March 1, and ever since life has been a little different. The rubbish truck looks like a catfish. Re: Haiku
Three funny things happened in/around my tank last week; a mini-plague of tiny red spiders invaded, the rummynoses developed mild agoraphobia, and Ms Bristlenose decided it was time to become a woman, even if the young fish in question's beard hadn't fully grown in.. spider sprints 'cross glass ...

Re: Definition
Probably something along the lines of 'Well, they all have whiskers..'; I've been trying to figure it out myself, but it hasn't clicked yet. I haven't got my head around the technical terms yet either, so simple is good at this stage, but you can set me a challenge if you like! .
Thanks, nim
