Re: Sterbai problems
Wow. That was quite some time ago... Sadly not. I isolated him in a hospital tank and gave him a bath of Meth Blue but fungus soon took over and got to his gills, meaning he stood no chance. But by isolating him at least nothing was passed on to the other tank's inhabitants. His piers have reached ...

Re: LDA08 A Claro advice
Thanks... I currently have a breeding pair of chocolate cichlids and about a dozen Corys in my 50g at the moment. The chocs are fairly placid with the male only showing territorial signs during breeding, the rest of the time he is focused on his mate. Do you think these would be too boistrous for my ...

LDA08 A Claro advice
I've just picked up 6 A.Claro. They're all just under 1". Will they be ok together in a 14 gallon to grow out or should I separate them, say a trio per 14g? The idea is to grow them out before moving them to a 50g with a view to breeding. Also are there any compatibility issues I should be aware of ...

Hmm... OK, so not Corydoras brevirostris as I'd previously been informed?

Central American Cats
Hi... I'm in the process of setting up a 55g central american river biotope with some smaller cichlids and was wondering what cats were native to the rivers and streams of this area? My lfs recommends either Pictus, Raphael or Royal Whiptail Cats. I can't find any info on the latter on this forum ...

Synodontis ID required please...
Hi I rescued this odd looking Syno from an aquarium I've been hired to maintain. I've never seen one quite like it before. It's about 7" long, has a huge mouth and odd mottled brown/white complexion and was hidden away amongst a large mixed community tank. I think it might be a hybrid of sorts. Does ...

Asian River biotope
On advice I'm seeking views for compatable tank mates my Pseudomystus Siamensis and Heteropneustes Fossilis. I've read a couple of postings by others on this forum which suggest a few tank mates for these species however I'm looking to keep this tank asian only. Both fish are fairly active and show ...

plant eating cats
I'm keeping 1 x Pseudomystus Siamensis and 1x Heteropneustes Fossilis in a planted tank and despite regular feedings one of them is eating the plants like crazy. Would anyone know which is more likely to be the culprit?
Thanks
Vern

Here's a picture of the oldest Cory in my tank. He's about 10 years old now and the only surviving member of an original colony of 10. I'm not even sure what type of Cory he is so any advice would be appreciated. Researching this site I assume it's either a leucomelas or schwartzi but could be wrong ...

Aquarium Salts
I'd always been told that aquarium salt should never be added to a Cory or Pleco community tank. Is this true?
Many people in the hobby are now arguing that a small dose each water change can actually give them a health boost.

Sterbai problems
Hello... I recently moved my corys from a mixed cichlid tank to a more suitable south American set-up for their own security after noticing one of my Cory Sterbai had half his caudal fin nipped off. Since that time, although the fin has grown back, he's developed a cloudy - almost opaque - slime ...

Bumblebee and odd buddy
"Tell tale croaking noises through the night belie nocturnal disputes" Interesting as I was convinced this noise was coming from the liver cat. I currently have both housed along with a Pleco in a large American cichlid community tank which may explain the territory issue but I simply don't have the ...

Bumblebee and odd buddy...
I've just rescued a couple of cats, one I'm certain is a bumblebee cat. The second I'm not too sure about... My mate reckons it's an asian liver cat and is dangerous to have around. She's about 6" long, fairly shy and goes crazy at feeding time. Oh and one other thing, she occassionally gives out a ...

Thanks guys. I think you're right about the Heteropneustes fossilis but not too sure about the Synodontis as I can't find a likely match on this site. It doesn't really have a pattern as such, just a general bronze tan, with a patchy white birth mark on it's head. I know the pix are bad but these ...
