Experience with Aquarium Products Gel-Tek Ultra Cure PX?

I was wondering if anyone has had experience deworming with this product? Evidentially, you just put drops of it in the tank and it stays in gel form. The fish are supposedly attracted by pheromones put in the gel. Here is the link to the manufacturer's website: http://www.aq-products.com/GelTek ...

I gave them some zucchini tonight and when I looked at them with some nightvision, they were really active. Several were munching on the zucchini. I'll give the algae wafers a try. I hadn't heard that they liked that before.

Wow! Now that's a fish! It's not the same species as mine. Mine has larger spots. Currently, I'm figuring out what they like the best. I've tried Hikari sinking carnivore pellets and sinking catfish pellets. I've also put in some frozen blood worms and will soon add some zucchini. There is a lot of ...

The Gold Nuggets!

Well, today was the annual fish store field trip for my local fish club. We went to about 6 different stores up a few hours north. Well, what can I say. One of my favorite stores was selling Gold Nuggets for $13. They were really healthy looking, nice bellies, active, and about an inch and a half ...

Here in the US they go between $50 and $100. The absolute cheapest I have seen is for $30, but as you can imagine they were all sold. Hope you find a better price though!

make sure you get those infertile eggs out of there. The best way that I have heard of is using a glass pipette to suck the insides out, although that was used for zebra eggs. That's really neat. Congratulations!

In my experience, it has always been best to remove the eggs from the tank while treating for fungus. Fry often have a hard time living in freshly put in water because not all of the reactions have gone to completion. I have found that by removing the eggs to a small tank with an air stone to be the ...

Melafix is another medication that I have seen work miracles, but it seems you are set with the medication area. Frequent water changes are a must though. Just keep that in mind during the treatment.

I would only be worried about the gold nugget being able to get enough to eat. With many other bottom feeders, the nugget often has trouble getting the food it needs. As for the size of the tank, it seems fine. A 90 gallon is plenty big, although you may want to move the nugget if the others get too ...

Zebras like meaty foods, although I have found they like a slice of raw zucchini once in a while. I feed mine a combination of Hikari catfish wafers and sinking carnivore tablets.

Gold Nugget Breeding

Once in a while I try this question to see if anyone has new information. I was wondering if anyone has experience breeding any of the gold nugget species and/or raising fry. I have seen a large supply of gold nuggets coming into local fish stores and wanted to possibly try breeding them. The only ...

Also on the first ray of the pectoral fins the males will have lots of little spikes. They will also generally have brighter colors, but it isn't as noticable unless you have two right next to each other. In my opinion, with the weekly water changes and plants, you should be fine. If you do plan to ...

They really love current. Just make sure it's appropriate for the size of the tank. At the bottom, I layered rocks and logs to make a system of caves and crevices for them. They all favor the ones closest to the powerhead. Have fun. They're really beautiful.

There's another example of that on the Catfish of the month for the gold nugget. There are two pictures and the first time I saw them, I could have sworn they were two different fish.

You may also notice that there are different color variations within the same species of plecos.

I should corret where I'm from. I did live in Germany for a while, but right now I'm in southern California.

What do you use for caves? I'm not sure if I should go with terracota or some kind of plastic pipe.

Well now that my 125 is up and running, and my q-tank has been emptied, I had some space for new fish. I have been drooling over some at a fish store a couple hours away (it's been about a year now!) I was up there for a birthday and stopped by the store, and there they were, a tank of L-260s, on ...

I would be cautious if you intend to add any more gold nuggets. They are territorial with each other, espeically if they are added at different times. If you do add a new one, swtich around the caves and wood so they will have to redetermine a heirarchy without giving either an advantage.

I don't think your're the only one that wants to breed these things. To my knowledge, the only breeding info comes from Larry Vires, whom accidentally bred them by putting them in a H. zebra grow out tank with tons of current. Check the cat-e-log.

L333 is a fairly new species, as you can tell by the L-number, but it is a hypancistrus with markings similar to that of L66 and L260. The breeding specifics are probably similar to that of Hypancistrus Zebra. Check the Cat-e-Log for more information.
