Thanks for that, tank's looking good. Picked up 12 this weekend, I'll start a new post with pics soon.

Re: Planning a tank for Kryptopterus minor.
Another pic or two would be good. So do your fish hide in a dark most of the time or are they out and about? As much as I want to go for a big group of cats only, I'm wondering if I'd benefit from some dithers? Have you added anything else to yours? What about water flow, is it only the Juwel filter ...

Re: Planning a tank for Kryptopterus minor.
Hi Sfamnun,
Any update at all on this tank, any new pics? I'm gearing up at the moment for a Kryptopterus-only tank, should be up and running in a week or two.

Re: Feeding Sturisoma fry
I bought a mortar and pestle the other day for crushing pellets and wafers to feed my fry, very quick and convenient - just the job!

Farlowella Spawning Video
Granted it's not exactly High Definition, nor the most exciting video on You Tube, nor the only spawning footage on there but at least my recent tank disaster hasnt put these two off. They have been in the mood all evening.

Re: Dreaded Camallanus Worms
Update. Well here's a lesson learnt the hard way. Never add anything with syrup in it to a warm aquarium as the end result is likely to be a fermenting mess, mine certainly was. The tank has been totally stripped down and the fish now reside in two spare tanks. I decided to treat with the wormer ...

Re: Dreaded Camallanus Worms
For the record, 2mg/l Levamisole bath in the tank and the Farlowella and fry plus the Apistos are all ok. I'll do a water change tonight after 24hrs, add carbon and repeat a couple more times over the next few weeks. I had to use a 8.48mg/l Levamisole de-wormer syrup that's designed for birds and ...

Re: Dreaded Camallanus Worms
I've got hold of some Levamisole HCL, Flubendazole doesn't seem to be readily available here. It's been added to a spare tank with one of my female Apistos who has worms showing, we'll see how she goes over the next 24hrs and then decide to try one of the Farlowella. If they all come through I'll ...

Good point Matsp, I'm waiting on a call back from the vets - spoke to them this morning things seem positive as they are well into their fish, I'll see what they say.

Re: Dreaded Camallanus Worms
Yeah I've read a few things and that's what I like, treating the water not any food. The Farlowella fry have been in the main tank all the time. Would they have worms already at 20mm in size, should they be taken out for treatment? I don't want to take them out and find later that they are infected ...

Dreaded Camallanus Worms
Damn, double damn. My five Apistos plus one of my Farlowella (at least) have Camallanus worms hanging out of them. I'm assuming all Farlowella have the worms too by default and I've spent the evening doing research on the net. I have a clued up fish vet near here who I'll talk with re some ...

Re: Petricola or Lucipinnis?
Yeah I would expect so, they are pretty timid to all apart from fry that stray too close, they don't really 'do' too much. They have lived in the tank with multi shelldwellers (neolamprologus multifasciatus) for a couple of years so they know all about sharing. The multis eventually took over the ...

Re: Petricola or Lucipinnis?
These are my first synos, I've rigged up a 36x15x18" rockwork-based tank which includes 4 Gold-faced Alto Comps - nothing else. I'm hoping they will be exploring all over the rock work rather than just sticking to the bottom. A couple of weeks in quarantine first though

Petricola or Lucipinnis?
I've just bought four to add to a Tanganyikan tank and wanted to know which they were. They were sold as Petricola, I'm happy with either model... Let me know your thoughts. Thanks http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj251/gedtranter/P080609_0901.jpg http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj251 ...

Re: Farlowella eggs
Thanks everyone and for those thoughts Apistomaster, I'm glad you mention veg as purely a supplement, maybe that's where people have gone wrong in the past, what with everything you read talking about zucchini etc. I reckon if I had tried to feed mine just veg they would be gonners by now. From what ...

Re: Farlowella eggs
Ok so here's the latest update. Day 12 for the majority of these little guys. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj251/gedtranter/Farlowella12Days.jpg They have been happily feeding on algae wafer powder, haven't been anywhere near any veggies, just not interested. At this age I'm not prepared to ...

Re: Farlowella eggs
I remember from one of your other posts that you have a couple that are similar in size to a couple of my males. The bristles are clear (not as big as the ones in the pic though) on my 12cm male with absolutley no hint of any on my 12 cm female. As you know there's not too much by way of Farlowella ...

Re: Farlowella eggs
So I've now got 11 fry out of 11 eggs, most about three days old. http://i274.photobucket.com/albums/jj251/gedtranter/Fry250509v2.jpg MatsP I've taken your advice and shaved a fine powder from my algae wafers and added it to my homemade floating fry saver. It has a solid base to allow the food to ...

Re: anyone here keep german blue rams?
I have two females in my planted tank, they look amazing. However I now can't find a decent male to add, the majority we get here are rubbish cheaply bred in Singapore. I've tried a few but they don't last long at all. I agree with Mike in that they can get a bit aggressive despite their small size ...

Farlowella eggs
Managed to get them to lay a few whilst I was away. There was me setting the alarm to get up at all times of the night to check what they were doing and they get busy whilst I'm away. I think these are about to hatch any moment. Now for the hard part in raising the fry according to what I read on ...

Well, I go on holiday to New Zealand for a few days and that's right, my Farlowella spawn whilst I'm away. 8 eggs apparently, don't know if they are fertile, we'll see when I get back later in the week. Cool.

Thanks Apistomaster. A few more questions for you if I may. How and what were you feeding yours? What size did they max out at? They would be ok with Farlowella vittata then?

Re: Twig catfish with Spotted Headstanders
Thanks, a few things to think about there. I like that fact that they are a little unusual in ther habits, headstanding that is, not nipping.
