Birger,
You've hit the nail on the head. That's gotta be it. The origin info must have been wrong. It's a friend's fish and one that he got from another online dealer.
Thanks,
Mark

came in as vampire pleco
Hello,
This came in from Brasil as a vampire pleco. It has much smaller spots than the typical L7. Is this a vampire or is it something else? If something else, then what species/L number is it?
Thanks for all your opinions,
Mark

Re: Pimelodid
That could explain why I had a hard time identifying it. This is a wild fish so the possibility of a hybrid did not occur to me.

I got this fish in as Leiarius marmoratus but the head shape and body pattern do not look right to me. The missing dorsal doesn't help in identification but at least you can tell how wide the fin base is.

Re: Which Sperata am I?
How many do you have? I'm lucky enough to keep two & 17" & 14" respectively. They are quite aggressive though & cannot be kept together - well at the very least mine cant! Mine are taking c*****d pellets from the surface but cant get them to hand feed....yet I just have the one. I wanted to get ...

Which Sperata am I?
Hey All,
I got these as Burmese shovelnose cats. I initially thought they were Sperata aor but now I'm also considering the possibility that they're S. acicularis. Whaddya think?
Thanks,
Mark

Re: Which Bagarius am I?
If it came from Thailand, it could be the Thai “yarrelli” or the Burmese “yarrelli”, neither of which are likely to be the true B. yarrelli (the true B. yarrelli is probably the same thing as B. bagarius , and what most people consider to be B. bagarius is unnamed). Confused? Interesting. I was not ...

Re: Which Bagarius am I?
Would it be possible for you to find out where the fish came from? AFAIK, there have been almost no fish coming out of the Red River drainage for the aquarium trade, so I think B. rutilus is quite unlikely. I can ask but it's unlikely that I'll get an answer. This came from a traditional wholesaler ...

Hey Everyone,
This came in as B. yarrelli but I'm inclined to think that it is actually B. rutilus. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thanks,
Mark

Loricariid from Colombia - what am I?
Hey All,
I got these in from Colombia this week as Lamontichthys llaneros. They're definitely not that species but I'm not sure what they are. I'd appreciate hearing your thoughts.
Thanks,
Mark

Actually, let me recant. I agree with Silurus. I don't know what I was thinking earlier. For some reason, I read wyckii and it clicked in my head as H. wyckioides.

Re: Came in as Bagarius yarrelli from Thailand
That's a possibility. The pics of that species seem to show two different species to me. The first one is more slender. The one thing that doesn't jive is the maximum size, which is listed as 2.4". These fish are 3-4.5" in length.

Came in as Bagarius yarrelli from Thailand
I got 30 of these in this weekend from Thailand as Bagarius yarrelli. They are definitely not the same fish I've gotten before. I'm sure the others were B. yarrelli but am not sure what this species is. It may be B. bagarius but it's difficult to find juvenile pics to compare. I would appreciate ...

Bagarius suchus, Corys, Loricarrids, etc.
Hey All, We're bringing in another shipment from Germany. One of the real highlihgts this time is the availability of a very limited number of Bagarius suchus. This is the most attractive of the Bagarius and only grows to 40 cm so it's a much more manageable species for most hobbyists than B ...
