I was working in this power station and just hanging out by the engineering stores when this guy went up to the storeman and said "I need a 0-25mm micrometer and a 14lb sledgehammer please", what do you think he was going to do with this combination of tools? you would be surprised by the amount of ...

I'll cast my vote for canon too, I have a 300D personally, but have used the 1D, 1Ds 10D and 20D's too all are excellent cameras. If you have the money spare the most important part is the lens and when i was working in photography i was using canons L-Glass fluorite lenses, including a Canon 500mm ...

I have a B. juruense, and to start with it turned its nose up at dead or preprepared food, however though it sounds cruel the best way i have used to wean my predator's off live food is to carefully "starve" them it sounds cruel but if you are careful about it and offer some dead/prepared food a few ...

I truly wonder if any catfish will be happy with a Jack Dempsey around.... I would normally agree, but i have found it does depend very much on the individual, I have an adult Jack Dempsey residing in a tank (for over a year) with many cats, my particular Dempsey is rather peaceful and i have never ...

given the small size of currently available fish and the rarity before when halfgrown or fully mature fishes were imported as oddballs, looks like someone managed to breed this species. I would agree, mine is pretty small probably just over 1 inch SL. I am told its wild caught though. but i dunno ...

If you do use plywood/epoxy in a tankm just make sure there are no panaques in there, my Royal would make short work of that epoxy in no time.... Also i believe that marine ply isnt totally waterproof in full contact/submergence applications without further treatment such as epoxying/painting as it ...

I added a few notes tonight about S decorus, and H Litorale, and I have to say its an excelent idea, such a good way of having peoples experiances and notes about a species easily accessable without needing to search the forum, very well laid out and easy to use reminds me of my db apps days, never ...

I agree with jools I can see the "look" Pseudoplatystoma in it, its an odd creature, something just doesnt sit right with me, hard to put my finger on it. Seems to me that the eyes are too big to be either Pseudoplatystoma or Oxydoras niger and at least to me the dorsal looks kinda dispropotionate ...

Liosomadoras morrowi and Platydoras costatus sound
The identification of a Liosomadoras morrowi in the "whats my catfish?" section prompted me to dig up a couple of files from my hydrophone recordings during my research. so here they are: I've heard this pattern several times from my Liosomadoras morrowi , usually because he has a real problem with ...
