I was going not on colour but the apparent gap between the dorsal and adipose and the adipose and caudal fin. The dark fish looks to have a larger gap between the fins. Thinking about it though could this be a sexual difference?

It looks like it could be some sort of Bryozoan a form of which branches like a grey moss.

Can I say that these look more like a type of Bryozoan than snail eggs. Some of these colonial animals do look like snail eggs.

I had one of these loverly catfish but it did live up to its name. In a six foot tank it would eat all the fish food till it was beachball shaped then throw it all back up again. In the end I had to drop in a BIG piece of fish that blocked his mouth up and then feed the other fish normaly while he ...
