Sorubims
Does anybody keep or have pix of Sorubim species, other than the lima? I have been trying to find info and pix on these fish but I can't find any. I'm especially looking for pix on S. elongatus. Physical descriptions of these are okay. Just wondering.

Brackish Cats
Here's a new question. Are there any true brackish cats, other than ariids? I haven't seen any posts on this at all, save one. If so, where are they from, and how big do they get? I am not looking for a cat that can standbrackish, but a cat that naturally occurs in brackish.

Sharkman, I'm only a kid but I'm pretty sure that even some genetically different animals can get the same size or bigger of their normal counterparts. I have no idea about how to create flowerhorns, but say if you took a jack dempsey and a texas cichlid, and mixed them into a flowerhorn, it would ...

Hi, this is to just say that if a fish, say aarapaima gigas, which gets 15 feet, in a 4 foot aquarium, it will either 1. die from lack of food, 2. continue to grow until it bursts the tank or snaps its spinal cord, or 3. become stunted by lack of space. I am not totally sure on number 2, though so I ...

Courtney, you said you had snail, a ropefish, and guppies, among other things. A ropefish in a 55 is pushing it sizewise, and once he hits about 4-5 inches, the guppies and snails are doomed, because the rope is nocturnal and quite predatory. They guppie's colors probably condemn them more. And from ...

Thanks, Medaka. First, will the Hara be okay with tetras? I have 4 head and tail light, 1 cherry barb, and 3 blind cave tetras also in the tank, along with my baby platy in a net breeder and its parents. I plan to move the trio of Blind caves into my 75 galllon as soon as they are full grown. Are ...

Hi. Does anybody have any suggestions for a catfish in a ten gallon tank? It needs to be a maximum of 2 inches, yet tough enough to stand up to my betta. I do not want any cories! I was thinking maybe a different species of otocinclus, other than the common one. This catfish has to be small and ...

I think a slow feeder, like a pl*co would be good because it would rarely eat the eel or lima food, and is fairly slow, plus it will eat algae. Somewhat off topic, it is illegal for Asian fish importers to import clown loaches of over 4" to anywhere to protect future generations. Just some food for ...

Hi, from what I have read, a full grown Dempsey will toatlly destroy smaller and weaker fish like a small pl*co or a school of say, tetras as the dither fish. In a 40 gallon a Dempsey will survive but there probably isn't enough room for a cat tough and big enough to stand up to one. Another smaller ...

Hi, Bungiweb. From what I have seen a lima should be fine in a tank of that dimensions, although it might have a little trouble turning around, which it rarely does. Limas can hold their own against things like pictus in my tank, as long as the lights have been off for a while and the lima has had ...

Mike, you aren't insulting me, but the Tatia has too much coloring of brown and orange. Sorry if I wasn't clear enough on my description. It had orange and brown streaks all over a cream background. And when I say it had blue eyes, I mean like clear sky blue. It possibly was a hybrid but that seemed ...

If you must have tetras, then I suggest a larger tetra, like a bleeding heart or blind cave tetra, then the bleeding heart would be okay with caution and the blind cave tetras would be fine if they are all full grown. I'm not an expert but I have seen very thick blind caves bordering on 4 inches ...

Driftwood Catfish Identification Mystery
Please, please let this topic be in the right forum. On a trip a couple of weeks ago to the Shedd Aquarium, me and my brother were fascinated by a group of driftwood catfish with cobalt blue eyes, and a creamy stomach with an orange and brown mottled pattern all over its body. We believe that it may ...

Thanks for the replies Pictus Man and Racoll. Racoll, what exactly do you mean by swimming space? Defending a territory, feeding grounds, open space, etc. For the record, my limas aren't even very active during the night hours with the exception of their food raids. Mine don't move more than a few ...

Hey greenmonkey, I think that a decently tall c*****d, like a firemouth might work with a lima when it does get around 24"(in a couple of years). A really neat cichlid, if you don't have a planted tank is the Uaru, or Triangle c*****d. It will eventually get around 12" and can be kept in pairs. It ...

Me again. Just got back from the lfs about an hour ago. When I was there I found this 6 inch Sorubim Lima for a great price. Newbie with Sorubim Lima Questions
Hi everybody! I'm new and I had some questions for the Sorubim Lima keepers out there. First, how big a tank do you guys put these cats in? I currently keep mine with a 5 inch Firemouth c******d, a gold gourami, a blue gourami, a brown knifefish, a common pl*co, a farlowella acus, a 3 inch clown ...
