Hi phill

I would say it was male carrying the eggs rather than female as most lip brooders the male carries the eggs that is why his lips are bigger.

Hi Anyone else no that Hemiodontichthys acipenserinus are lipbrooders as in catelog it give no info but i went to the importer yesterday and he had about 30 (i bought 2) and he said to me and a friend u guys no wat these eggs are and we said no and he showed us the pinochio whips(what we call them ...

L270 sexes please??

Hi I have 5 L270 but i am not sure on sexes i no 1 which is 9cm is defitnely male and 2 more are only 5cm and 2 small to sex but these 2 that i hav photos of are they a pair?? This was taken at an importers place im not sure where in exactly in peru he got them from?But i dont think its L332 that one seems to look flatter and spots arnt as defined as these ones??

I bought five and am pretty sure i got 4 males and 1 female :cry: .Pitty no one in nz breeds any plecs seriously so sad and im only second person here too breed L52.At least more L46 are getting imported now but still ridiculous prices like $400.

usually i just move the male in the tube (i pressume hes either breeding in a pvc pipe or bamboo).Just put both hands on either side of the tube and stop water from coming out and put in another tank.Raising the fry is another thing

these guys are not hard to breed either as long as u provide current and have a pair that are in good conditiond they will spawn.With the cave make it as small as possible so that only two fish can fit in but dont make it ridiculously small(i brake bottoms of pot and use that and works well)as for ...

Thanks for the info.When i bred mine all i did was make sure i had a male and female put them in there own 3ft with bits of clay pot broken off and stuck into the gravel with a gap for male to get in i also had a external canister filter doing 900L/h with a good current and the temp was 26c and ph ...

My first L052 spawn

Hi
Today i got a suprise when i just got back from the movies and found my male L52 on about 50 eggs and was wondering

a)what to feed the babies and

b)when is a safe time after the babies hatch to take away from father as i heard they barely have a yolk sack is that correct

there is actually a lady in austrailia that breeds common plecs but she does it in a pond i think she was the first in the world im not sure but i know for a fact she bredds them

in new zealnd there almost as common as normal bn and theres a lady who breed them really well.Here is pics of hers just click the golden black eyed ancistrus photo

Just wondering are these very common in US and how much do you pay for yours over ther here in new zealand we can expect to pay $65 for adults and $34 for young ones just wondering how much there in us and if there common cause i never see any one talk about them

Hi i have just purchased two L-056 and am planning to get another four as there were only two in stock at the mo,But just wondering i think i have a paor as one has got very fury pectoral fins and was a different colour when stresses as he was more dark and the female was also in her stress colour ...
