3.Is it deadly? Yes. Ok, im dead then ;) Seriously, there are at least two species of Heteropneustes which are sold as H. fossilis, a uniform grayish/black one and a rather brownish with a creamy lateral stripe. I don't know which one is H. fossilis, would be interesting to investigate on this one ...

Hi Marshel, I have experienced C. virginae as a very skittish and easily stressed species. Thus large tanks (at least 80x40cm "floor space", the larger the tank the better), with a lot of hiding places are suitable.Best place the tank where is not too much "traffic" in front of it. They are also ...

Hi Alan, there is no Rineloricaria filamentosa , but a Dasyloricaria filamentosa . Many Rineloricaria species have been identified as Dasyloricaria filamentosa in the past and all i am aware of turned out to be Rineloricaria . Your fish might be any species of Rineloricaria , some species that have ...

Hi Allen, it looks like the same species as this one . Its neither C. atropersonatus (Seuss callls it atropersonatus II in his book) nor C. kanei . Its also sometimes called Corydoras brevirostris (Aquarium atlas), which is also wrong. AFAIK its a currently undescribed species, and doesn't have a C ...

Hi, ok here are some guesses from a non Loricariid specialist: First is a Liposarcus/Glyptoperichthys/Pterygoplichthys , might be a VERY young G. gibbiceps . I just realized you already wrote Acanthicus adonis albino, didn't see before  ... so i edited this post. I agree with A. adonis albino ...

Hi, They are very red in color, in what kind of water/biotope they were found? I think it's a diet thing. Like HH said, this is a diet thing. When i first got mine, some of the fish were brownish, some slightly orange.(The wholesaler i got them from already fed with Artemia Naupli) First i thought ...

Hi Collingwood, juvenile Hemiloricaria can be tricky to feed, especially when they come from an lfs and have starved for some time. Apparently thats not the case in your Hemiloricaria though they have a filled belly as you write. Hemiloricaria are omnivorous with a strong leaning to carnivorous and ...

Hi, Benny, what species was it imported with? Do you know what region of brazil exactly. Could have benn caught close to the Surinam border or even in Surinam and then sold and shipped from Brazil... It is not because it was shipped from Brazil that it means that it was caught there... You are right ...

Hi Phil These fellas that we are seeing have a line along the top of their dorsal. In addition, they have markings on the dorsal fin, usually the first few rays. Besides that some of them have a smattering of markings along the lateral line. In some specimens this line goes into the lower part of ...

Hi, i also had similar problems with this species. I kept mine in a heavily planted 80x40x40cm tank. I didn't have problems with the agression (I only kept females, maybe thats the reason), however, mine died during the last (very hot) summer. I tried to get some males for some time, because all ...
