The spots have been gone for a couple of days and it's a fairly overstocked tank in my opinion. The ancistrus in question was the latest addition.

stressed ancistrus?

Hi,

My brother has a captive-bred ancistrus of about an inch long that has lost its spots. It had spots when it was bought and he is curious as to whether or not it has lost its spots because of stress. I´ve said it might be so but I´d appreciate any other opinions.

thanks all,

Andy

Hello everyone, Why aren't there more people playing around with intruments? I get my didgeridoos out at least two three times a week and I might not be that good at playing them but it's great fun! I even read loads, recent favourites are fantasy by Steven Erikson. I'm also active within a martial ...

So it would probably chow down on any and all rainbowfish then? I guess that I won't be trying that setup then.

thanks for the answer,

is anodontiglanis dahli a real catfish?

Hi, I've been spending some time searching the web for rainbowfish when I came across a picture of a fish called anodontiglanis dahli and I was wondering if it's a catfish that's found on the market? It would be nice to know if it's possible to create a biotope tank with australian fish and have ...

The problem with gold nuggets are that they are a bit larger than what I'm looking for, I'd like to find a species that stays about 3 to 4 inches. That's about 8 to 10.5 cm. Apart from that the gold nuggets would have been great.

Sorry about that, I thought that limnivore meant wood/bark-eater.
That's the kind of pleco that I'm after. I guess there are many panaques that go for wood but how many of those are common on the market. If the species is common then I'll probably be able to order it from my LFS.

I think one of the local LFS actually have a couple in stock. Are there any others that might fit the same criteria?

woodeating pleco tips

Hi everyone,

I'm trying to find a good limnivore for my tank. It should preferably not need a strong current and preferably stay around 3-4 inches. Are there any species readily available on the market?

Thanks for any help,

Andy

I think you should go ahead with the spotted raphaels. I haven't had any problems with them digging up plants . Just make sure that you've got either driftwood or some other form of caves in the tank for them to hide in.

They seemed to lose the ability to go against the current and ended up at the filter intakes.

fungal med. question

Hi everyone, I've just lost an Astrodoras Asterifrons to some kind of fungal infection (It had a white fur coat down both sides) and I'm afraid it's spreading to my other fishies. Apart from a pair of Apistogramma Pandurini all I've got in the tank are otos, one banjo cat, one spotted raphael, and ...

Compatibility question

Hi everyone,

How big a chance would the average oto have surviving if it was in the same tank as a 4-5 inch dorad?

stargazer info

Hi,

I've just gotten ahold of two Astrodoras asterifrons and and would appreciate some info on them. I already know they'll grow to about 10-12 cm from the current 3 cm that they are now. How does caring for these dorads differ from other dorads?

thanks in advance

Thanks for the answers! My banjo cat is a bunocephalus coracoideus, the reason that I posted was that I seem to recall that others have posted that it's a slow species. I hardly ever see it move but it is always in a different place when I look for it. It even moves about during daytime. anyhow ...

Greedy banjo

Hi

Has anyone else had a greedy banjo cat or is mine a freak? It regularly beats my p. costatus to any food dropped into the tank. The banjo is about 10 cm and really fat and the costatus is just a juvie of about 5 cm, is that why the banjo is getting away with robbery?

catfish suitable for malawi tank

Hi,

Are there any catfish other than S. multipunktatus that will fit in with malawi-ciclids with regards to water parameters? They don't necessarily have to be african catfish.

thanks,

Thanks,

I think it's probably a mix between stress and unvaried diet, they get mostly spirunella tabs with the odd cucumber thrown in and I've just introduced a small shoal of really active tetras.

I appreciate tha answer

Hi

Just curious, has anyone seen C. delphax this midwater swimming?
I've got three in a pretty filled up 190 litre tank and when they're not on the bottom they're swimming about the sides of the tank about halfway up.

Hi Does anyone know if there's been any research done on the Dorad family? I've done some looking about on the 'net but not found anything readable i.e. in english. König Löwe The best store in my opinion is the one on Frösön, the guy there is quite interested in catfish himself and they know a lot more about fish than the store in the central part of stersund. just go to Frösön and follow the signs to Frösö centrum and you'll get to the lfs. good luck ...

Caol_ila Depending on if you're using UK gallons or US gallons you'll get differing volumes when converting to litres. 55 UK gallons equal approx. 250 litres 55 US gallons equal approx. 208 litres I think most people using these forums use the US measurements if they don't measure in litres. Andy

I've just checked the pH again and its approx. 6.5 to just below 7 so I think the softness of the water and the unusual high temperature here is what gave the earlier reading.
