Loricariidae Books - Aqualog, Aquazoo (Taiwan)

Hello, I am selling some books from the collection. I have them listed over at Aquabid and perhaps members of Planet Catfish may be interested. These are as follows: "The Gladiator in the Aquarium - South American Plecos Vol I" "The Gladiator in the Aquarium - South American Plecos Vol II ...

Congratulations on the rescue. I give your "cactus" real credit for being so feisty. He will no doubt do well. The other fish...maybe not so well ;) Just joking! I agree his past owner is not fit to be the custodian of such beautiful fish.

Hmmmm...that bothers me that he's not "eliminating" properly. Can anyone weigh in on something that can be fed which will have a stimulative effect on the intestinal tract? I heard somewhere that garlic may have this effect and is an appetite stimulant as well. This would be good information to have ...

What are the dimensions of the tank? It should still be ok if you provide enough places of refuge. I have 3 in a 29 gallon (110 liter) tank.

Hello Snowball, I can accept what you say about the benefits of the snails themselves. I guess what troubles me is the fact that I have my plecos in there and they are almost always in contact with the bottom and bottom surfaces of the tank. So when I see the horde of snails come up through the ...

I have one that's 8 inches long and I've had him for almost a year. He comes out only when he perceives all is perfectly quiet and at night. I've actually sat in my office for hours and noticed him scurrying about here and there but the instant I move in the room or my wife comes near the room, he ...

Don't forget lots of hiding places (e.g caves etc.). They will defend their territory.

Thanks Gozza. I was considering your plan when I got a call from my friend across town who owns a restaurant. He says he has a huge pot that will fit the wood so I'm going to haul it over there and put it on the stove for a couple of hours. That should kill the wonderful little guys! I read ...

Wow you guys in Australia really get hammered for pricing. Here in the US we're getting about $35 for a 3" L7. Is your high pricing due to the import restrictions? It seems like some money could be had there in breeding the more exotic L numbers! Anyway cheers!

That's unbelieveable. You took him to a vet? It could be an intestinal issue that didn't show for whatever reason. That seems most likely so I think she was on the right track. Seems like a very difficult case. Have you tried to vary the diet a bit? What are you feeding, exactly?

I'd like to weigh in here since I've just had some serious battles with snails. As stated, if perhaps in the very very beginning one notices a snail or two, fish such as loaches or puffers might be a practical and natural route to eradicate them. However, if a large colony is established and is ...

Yes, the Pitbull Pleco and Chaetostoma sp. are two different fish and require differing setups. As has been pointed out, look at LDA25. That's a real Pitbull pleco.

Re: Pitbull pl*co

I am about to get my first aquarium. I want to get a Pitbull pl*co. would they be a good beginer fish? Any info would be appreciated. They are fantastic fish. I have two and they have no idea that they are small. They have some very unique habits. One of these is grabbing a small piece of gravel ...

I have 2 of the L200 and 1 L128 as well as numerous other species which I won't list. They are absolutely compulsive zucchini eaters....almost to the point of obsessive! I agree with the fact that you need circulation in there. If you didn't have any supplimental air circulation, that is a ...

River Cross Section Breeding Setup

As I have been able to succeed breeding a number of different species of pleco (Ancistrus sp., Whiptail, Farlowella..) over the years I want to try a real challenge. This is a project that I don't mind taking years working on and I have no aspiration to somehow make alot of money on it. I expect to ...

I have fed mine a mix. Every 3rd day they receive either frozen krill, mysis shrimp, or bloodworms. Daily regimen is Tetra tablets and flake mix. Zucchini is offered every day in the tank as well as pleco wafers but they hate them. My girl "Vampira" has gone from 2.5 inches to 5 inches in about a ...

Help-Advice Sick L066

Hi there, My "baby" L066 Scribbles is sick. We very rarely see her but she came up to the front of the tank this morning asking for help. She has a bad case of popeye which also has a thick grey film over it on one eye only. The other is completely normal. On her head it looks as though she has some ...

As an aside, has anyone here had any luck ordering fish via overnight delivery? I did that and so far I've had very bad luck with survivals. I'm not sure if it's the actual ...

Hello Jackster! That is exactly what I was looking for! I suspected that the incremental addition of the RO was not giving me the proper dilution of the "tap" water in the tank but I was not aware of the calculations needed to do an acurate adjustment. Also I didn't want to do a mass change without ...
