Re: Breeding the Bulldog/Rubberlip
It took mine 3 years before they starting breeding. I started feeding mine more meaty foods like bloodworms & frozen brine shrimp. I have 2 males and 1 femae. They breed 3 times once every month during the winter. The female breed with both males. The eggs took a very long time to hatch and they ...

So far everyone is doing great. I have only found 1 dead fry out of 50+ now that I have. I scared to see how many I really have with all the rocks in the tanks I could have even more. The main tank now has some fry from all 3 batches. The first batch I got very few. But the last 2 have big groups of ...

This time it was a different male so I will see how he does being this is his first time with taking care of the ...

So far the fry have been eating frozen baby brine and liquid fry food, Hikari first bites, ground up veggie flakes. I haven't seen them touch the zucchini yet. With the large gravel I have seen them pretty far down between the gravel eating something. The most I have seen out at a time was 12 at ...

They are starting to act like there parents do going from one rock to another just they are doing it with the large gravel that ...

Chaetostoma fry picture
Well after 8 days they hatched and disapeared into the river rock 55 gal set up. The tank has a lot of big round rocks so it took me 2 days to finally see one come up of hiding after the lights went out. The pictures are poor quality but I try to get better one if they will let me. On the 8th day ...

Friday morning will be day 5. This batch of eggs is a lot more yellow/cream then the first batch. I also noticed that the female is staying really close about 4"-5" way from the eggs almost like she is helping guarding the area. Also my 3rd Chaetostoma in the tank has got really huge in the last day ...

More Chaetostoma eggs
Found another batch of Chaetostoma eggs in the same spot as before between the 2 clay pots. So I guess I move the Jack Dempseys again today. Last time 2 weeks ago the male guarded the eggs for 7 days then they where all gone. Any advise? The male is doing a great job at fanning the eggs.

Here is a pic link to where the male laid his eggs. He is between the 2 clay pot where they come together you can kind of see him in there. I have noticed that the female has been staying closer to the breeding area. Maybe because the male is to busy to chase her off. The other Chaetostoma has got a ...

Chaetostoma eggs
Check the tank today a found a Chaetostoma fanning eggs. I have kind of gave up on them when I lost half of my colony of 6 fish a while ago due to a 3 year old son. They are 3 Chaetostoma in a 55 gallon but there tank mates are 2 6" Jack Dempseys that a friend gave me to hold for him. I haven't ...
