Thank you for the information. I've just had a knee reconstruction and have been unable to sit in front of a computer.
The more I look at the group the more interested I become. In terms of the temperature range in Myanmar will they tolerate water below 14oC with occasional drops to 12oC? I also ...

Re: Breeding Akysis
I had read that site before I posted my questions. The information is fairly generic but one of the better places that I found for information.

Hi all,

Syno Tank
Hi all,
Thought it was time I made another post. I've just drained my syno tank to sex and check the fish. Its a 1000l tank with 3 x S. decorus, 10 x S. eupterus, 11 x S. njassae and 9 x S. multipunctatus. I've got the SL's for the fish and canulation results somewhere. I tell you what though the ...

I've got three of these. They did not take to the vegetables that I tried a couple of times. They've settled in on a 2mm pellet that is about 48% protien. I give them a spiriluna pellet every now and again as well. The advice that Janne gives in her article in Shanes World I found very helpfull as ...

Peckoltia vittata or L134
Hi all,
I was sold these fish as L134 or Leopard frog Pleco. But I think they may actually be Peckoltia vittata instead.
What do you good people think?

Rio Tapajós Biotype... what is it?
Hi all,
I've searched this site and googled were I can. I'm looking for information on the water chemistry of this system and biotypes.
I am asking because I am getting four 5cm L134 (Leopard Frog Pleco). I know the system is a clearwater and has a low conductivity (approx. 100uS/cm).
Also does ...

I was treating calammanus, an intestinal worm. I picked it up in the system because I saw the worms hanging out the anus of the fish. I treated at midday. By the 6pm there were obviously fewer worms hanging out. All but the most infected fish were clear by 24 hours. It totally cleared from the most ...

THanks for the replies guys. I've had a good search over the internet and found most of the english sites I think. My question is more aimed at what P. brevis is called here at planet catfish. The L# that it is referred to by most other sites doesn't appear here, and the species name doesn't appear ...

Peckoltia Brevis? or something else?
Hi all,
I've been offered some sort of L number but am unsure as to what it is. L numbers other than the common bristlenose and peppermint are very rare in Australia. The person is offering them as Peckoltia Brevis. I can't find them in the Catelog. I did find an old thread were there was a ...

Hi all,
I've got a question regarding S. njassae. I bought 3 that look like the pictures that SG_Eurystomus posted last December http://www.forum.planetcatfish.com/viewtopic.php?t=1708&highlight=njassae . I bought a further 5 a couple of months after from the same LFS from a second batch they had ...

Steve,
In terms of biofilters, trickle filters (media out of water) are more efficient than submerged filters (media in the water). In practical terms this has great benefits when tanks have enormous bio loads. For the home aquaria the benefits aren't as great. The savings in space and money can be ...

The return to the sump relies on gravity. When the pump input into the tank = the gravity return there will be water in the tank higher than the stand pipe. This is what I called the standing water. Because when the power goes out or the pump is turned off this water above the stand pipe will drain ...
