hi quix, i have no prob with the small ones, but my 7 inches royal tend to remove bits of the styrofoam when he sticks his mouth on it. my advise is dun put the styrofoam if u have huge plecos. theres another type of background deco that is made from fibreglass, i think it should be more suitable ...

its just a piece of styrofoam board glued onto the tank using silicon.
i'm using it for all my tank and nothing seems to be wrong for the past 5 months.

went to check it out.
indeed, a 5-6 inches specimen was sold for $180 singapore dollars.
no idea when the new shipment will arrive.
u guys out there better check with LFS if there are blue eyes in ur vincinity.

will drop by the place to check out the real situation.
but based on reliable sources, the shipment came together with a bunch of weird south american fishes. and some regulars have oredi reserved a couple of the blue eyes from the next shipment. hopefully its the start of better things to come.

just got info that one of this is available today at LFS.
but was sold before i got there. damn!!!
it maybe the closest chance i have in getting one. :cry:

one of my tank has a submerged powerhead, i think this contribute to the temp rise.
i have raise the output of oxygen in the tank and hopefully the plecos are alright.

it seems fine sharing the tank with a few other plecos (sunshine, LDA33, 3 becons, adonis, flash, etc...) and some cories and white clouds.
its doesn't hide much also, likes to sunbath on the driftwood.

its getting hotter with the monsoon season over in singapore.
2 of my tanks have water temp reaching 31c.
is it safe for the plecos??? wat can i do to lower the temp???

real nice... royal is my first and favourite pleco.
royals are quite abundant in singapore.
we can have a tank of 30-40 royals to choose from.:wink:
looking for gold-line royal though... :roll:

u can stuff sponges at the input of the powerhead to prevent unwanted guests from being suck into it. (thats what i have learnt) it gets very demoralizing when ur plecos are dead, i feel like giving up the hobby when i have my third casualty. :cry: when i visit the LFS yesterday just to have a look ...

i have been keeping these guys for 2-3 months oredi. 3 casualties so far: L200: lost to powerhead (stupid mistake that i have learnt) gold nugget: tail and fin rot (nothing i did help the fellow) mango: starve to death, i think. (whenever i feed the plecos, he is always the one not eating) any ...

i have the same problem with my mango.
looks like its refusing to eat anything i offered.
i tried, algae wafers, sinking pellets and frozen bloodworms.
it looks kind of skinny compared to the rest.
should i put that fellow into another tank all by itself so that it won't need to compete for food???
