Re: Which Rineloricaria sp.

They look more like to me, but I'm far from an expert on the smaller whiptails. Does look like a pair, though.

Agree with Bekateen on the sexes. They might be L502 if they're from Suriname.

Re: Wanted: O. eques and O. hephaestus

O. eques will pop up on lists every now and then; they're somewhat often imported and/or bred, to my knowledge.
Alex @ Alex's Fishroom NYC has WC hephaestus for $80 each right now.

Re: ID please? I'm wondering if it's Spinipterus acsi or moijiri

I've never seen acsi in person; for being the 'original' Spinipterus, getting solid info about them is surprisingly difficult. If I didn't know any better, I'd say the fish in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th pictures were S. moijiri; problem is, I've never seen substantial pattern variation in the few times I ...

Looks like a younger female L260 to me. A pic from above might be more helpful for sexing.

The larger fish are all very nice males; that smaller fellow might be a female, but I'd personally say it's too soon to make any assumptions yet.

Re: Rhadinoloricaria spp.; worth it?

I haven't had them myself, so I can't speak to water sensitivity or behavior, but I think they'd be okay with the banjo. @Norman, do you know if Rhadinoloricaria are sensitive and difficult to keep? Also, are they known to jump out of tanks in a panic? (My griseus did that). Thanks in advance ...

Re: Rhadinoloricaria spp.; worth it?

Hi. I'm in Peru right now and there are some Rhadinoloricaria at a local exporter's shop. Beautiful fish. IDK what they'll cost by the time they get to the US, but they are nice... even so, I'd be hesitant at $70 each because I'd want to buy 6 or more. Can't tell you what to do, whether price is ...

Rhadinoloricaria spp.; worth it?

A wholesaler that supplies my LFS has some "Caqueta Dragon Whiptails" in stock; supposedly the exporter labeled them as Rhadinoloricaria andaki, and they were (as the name suggests) caught in the Caqueta region. I do have a setup for some juvenile Spatuloricaria caquetae I was intending on getting ...

Sexing L159?

Looking for confirmation on the sexes of these guys- myself and a few other people think all of them are male, but I was told that the stubby-bristled/tentacled fellows could very well be female. I had a definite female that sadly perished, leaving behind two female-less males; but recently got an ...

Re: Black-Water Plecos?

I've personally never ran into issues keeping plecos in blackwater, and honestly prefer it because it gives me an excuse to not spend a bunch of money on plants and lighting; plus, the plecos- especially fry- seem to love munching on old botanicals. I've actually had the best success breeding ...

My L397 breed year round, but they are definitely seasonal in terms of the intensity of breeding. I get more spawns in mid to late summer than I do from October - March. Your water parameters sound wonderful! What's your pH? Cheers, Eric Thanks! My pH hovers somewhere around ~6.3, last time I ...

Perpetually soft water... a blessing or a curse?

I had several plecos, apistos, and a pair of bettas routinely spawning in a tank where I conducted very small water changes on a sporadic basis; the nitrates were consistently somewhat high, and so was the TDS, but I had few, if any, issues with getting the inhabitants to spawn. I completely redid ...

Re: L134 sick?

Others will be able to add better info, but L052 is noticeably 'flatter' and not as full-bodied; the eyes are larger (in comparison to the head) and located closer to the top of the skull, fin shapes and placement are slightly different, and as you noted the pattern is much more "muted", even in ...

Hi, I've got a group of wabenmuster, all from the same breeder, maybe from the same spawn (they were about the same size when purchased, but may have been from separate spawns close together). ...Dwarf Wabenmusters?

Snagged a nice pair of Wabens at my LFS. Great deal for healthy fish of an obvious sex. Only thing is, they're super tiny. Tiny, as in tiny . And they look fully sexually mature, too; not just borderline sexable, which is what I'm used to for Ancistrus at their size. I personally have never seen ...

New pleco severely emaciated; any chance of survival?

Just received a rather nice box of fish; amongst them was an L213 male (think the fish might actually be L359, as were ~70%+ of all the "L213" imports last year). Gonna go out on a limb here and say the poor fellow's toast and doesn't stand a chance of survival. I've never had a WC pleco come back ...
