Re: Anyone know what this is?
I will second freshwater sponge. Probably from the genus Ephydatia.
I have some as well, and the only problem I have is it's in a planted tank and it kills plants it covers, it spreads by spores if you move anything from an infected tank to another, and I have yet to discover a way to kill it ...

Re: Anyone know what this is?
It is a form of freshwater sponge, or so I am told; indicative of good water upkeep and whatnot, not really detrimental in any way.
I could be wrong, though; might be best to wait for others to chime in.

I will get better pictures sometime in the next few weeks, as I'll be moving them to their permanent home then, hopefully.

And, to round this off, would appreciate pics if you can. It's not commonly photographed.

No good pictures, unfortunately, but here's a few. All of them have significant fin erosion that is especially concerning to me; the nature of it is quite odd.

Re: L332 Green Chubby plecos
I found these copepods anyone just leave them in the tank for a cleanup crew?
I've seen some Hypans (mostly just 236) hunting down and eating them; I assume they must be edible to some extent.
Those L332 really are quite nice! They still probably need to grow a good few centimetres (~6? 8 ...

Looks like a young probable male L351. Almost certainly WC, as few (if any) people seem to breed the uncommonly-collected black-and-white Panaqolus spp. of Peru.

Re: Info about ancistrus l327
They're odd little Ancistrus. I'm fairly certain the bristles in juveniles grow rapidly after ~6cm TL or so IIRC.
Males are awfully belligerent, but chase more than fight. They'll get about ~13cm TL for males, but stay around ~10cm TL more often than not.
Rather simple to keep; good eaters and ...

Re: Odd Glanidium...or maybe Tatia?
I saw them at two exporters in Iquitos this last summer (August 2024). One of those was Green Fish Aquarium. They posted a video of the fish on Facebook, here: https://fb.watch/vZWM94UfYO/ . The fish I saw there did have a green color, but I wouldn't be surprised if that was merely iridescence ...

Is it in good shape?
It may be of use to me for research purposes, and I could probably get a closer look at a genus level.
Unfortunately, no. I wish it were; perhaps the fish may have lived then.
The face was completely mangled, with nearly all the skin ripped off; eyes were also heavily ...

Congrats on the purchase, but I'm sorry to read about your losses. Hopefully you can keep both sexes going.
I've seen them for sale before under the same name you bought them as, Tatia sp. Peru Green. I don't think they're a Glanidium, but I could be wrong.

Eric

Odd Glanidium...or maybe Tatia?
Snagged a group of "Tatia sp. Peru Green" from Jorge @ Nationwide Aquatics the other day. They were apparently very difficult to import, with a rather high mortality rate.
Looked like 1m4f, somehow; both sexes were there, thankfully. Unfortunately, one female killed themselves by jamming their face ...

Re: Interesting behaviours of Spatuloricaria
I don't think there's any studies on gut analysis of Spatuloricaria (or many studies on Spatuloricaria at all) out there at the moment. Hopefully that'll change sometime, though given how some species seem somewhat difficult to collect, it seems mildly doubtful. There are mentions of them being ...

Re: Interesting behaviours of Spatuloricaria
It is no doubt interesting from a behavioral aspect. These fishes are clear carnivores, morphologically and from the few ecological studies. Carnivorous species I've noticed generally have very mobile jaws but there are exceptions where jaws are reduced. There is a slight exception with some of ...

Interesting behaviours of Spatuloricaria
Figured it was probably worthwhile to put some info down in a thread.
Most Spatuloricaria tend to prefer to lift or turn over objects with their mouth while foraging for food; oftentimes I'll see large caquetae "picking up" leaves (I imagine their papillose lips aid them in that endeavour) and ...

ISO: Spinipterus moijiri, Centromochlus "macracanthus"/sp. Peru
Hello!
Got a nice single male Spinipterus moijiri I've been growing out for over a year? or so; been looking for a few to put together a potential breeding group.
Also have a rather large and robust male Centromochlus sp. "Peru" (what's being sold as macracanthus, apparently) that I've had for a ...

O. eques will pop up on lists every now and then; they're somewhat often imported and/or bred, to my knowledge.
Alex @ Alex's Fishroom NYC has WC hephaestus for $80 each right now.

Re: ID please? I'm wondering if it's Spinipterus acsi or moijiri
I've never seen acsi in person; for being the 'original' Spinipterus, getting solid info about them is surprisingly difficult.
If I didn't know any better, I'd say the fish in the 3rd, 4th, and 5th pictures were S. moijiri; problem is, I've never seen substantial pattern variation in the few times I ...

I haven't had them myself, so I can't speak to water sensitivity or behavior, but I think they'd be okay with the banjo.
@Norman, do you know if Rhadinoloricaria are sensitive and difficult to keep? Also, are they known to jump out of tanks in a panic? (My griseus did that). Thanks in advance ...

Hi.
I'm in Peru right now and there are some Rhadinoloricaria at a local exporter's shop. Beautiful fish. IDK what they'll cost by the time they get to the US, but they are nice... even so, I'd be hesitant at $70 each because I'd want to buy 6 or more.
Can't tell you what to do, whether price ...

Rhadinoloricaria spp.; worth it?
A wholesaler that supplies my LFS has some "Caqueta Dragon Whiptails" in stock; supposedly the exporter labeled them as Rhadinoloricaria andaki, and they were (as the name suggests) caught in the Caqueta region. I do have a setup for some juvenile Spatuloricaria caquetae I was intending on getting ...

Sexing L159?
Looking for confirmation on the sexes of these guys- myself and a few other people think all of them are male, but I was told that the stubby-bristled/tentacled fellows could very well be female. I had a definite female that sadly perished, leaving behind two female-less males; but recently got an ...
