Cheers for that Shane, I might give that a try. Hi Mike, the tank is a Juwel Delta 80 which if you are not familair with is the forerunner of the Trigon tanks. Circulation is from a Fluval 305 with the outlet in the back corner pointing left and the inlet in the front right corner. What tends to ...

Thanks Mats, I have thought of putting some Kuhlis in. I'm not too fussed about the cories breeding in this tank as I have successfully bred them in a small 30 litre tank. Someone has suggested that a substrate heater cable such as the Rena Cor cables causes convection currents at the bottom of the ...

Sand substrate problems

Hi all, I'm having a bit of a problem with my sand substrate going anaerobic in my current tank. The sand is about an inch deep and is Unipac Silver Sand bought from my LFS which I thought would have been a good choice...I am about to start another tank and would like your thoughts on different ...

1 month old C.Trilineatus - Feeding Question

Hi all, My group of 5 C.Trilineatus bred in the new year in my main tank and I managed to save some eggs. Only four hatched and only two of them survived but the two that did have now been transferred to my 30 Litre tank with a single juvenille bristlenose for company. My question is regarding ...

Dave, do you keep anything in your quarantine tanks when you are not quarantining anything to keep the tank cycled?

Thanks Mats, I think I'll try that. The bristlenose is about 1 1/2 inches long at the moment - would it be a threat at this size?

Thanks for the reply. I was thinking that it would be easier to see the eggs in the smaller tank and possibley remove them to a small container with airstone if the BN did seem interested.
If i did move the eggs to a bowl or something with the airstone, do I need a heater in there as well?

Breeding C. Trilineatus Question

Hi All, At least 3 of my 6 C. Trilineatus have started breeding activity for the first time in my community tank. It started with the male acting very strangley, shimmying and vibrating his whole body infront of one ofthe females. This went on for a number of hours until she finally adopted the T ...

Thanks for your replies and apologies for the late response but I have been sick myself  I aborted the Sterazin treatment and started with Melafix and Pimafix and the fungus seems to have all but gone. The little chap still insn't himself though, his 5 other buddies go crackers all over the ...

Sick C. Trilineatus

Hi All, I have noticed that one of my 6 C. Trilineatus has a fluffy looking growth around it's adipose fin. Apart from this he seems to be ok, water parameters are PH 7.2, ammonia & nitrite are 0, nitrate is around 25ppm. The tank contains the 6 corys, a bristlenose, 4 swordtails, 4 neon rainbows ...

Royal Panaque Aquarium Size?

Hi all, my LFS has a gorgeous 3 inch Royal that I am very interested in but I know that my current 110 Litre tank is way too small. I can get my hands on a 48x18x15 (210 Litre / 42Gal) tank - the question is how long would this tank be suitable for the Royal? I know that they can get to over 13 ...

Thanks guys for you advice but unfortunately when we woke up this morning the Golden Nugget had died. He had turned a pale grey colour over night but there were no other signs of damage. All the water parameters are fine, I guess that he died of stress. Given the size of the tank, it's a Juwel Delta ...

Territorial Bristlenose?

I have a 110 litre Juwel tank with sand substrate, two large pieces of bogwood, a few peices of slate for cover and an upturned flowerpot. The inhabitants are a few swordtails and a male Bristlenose about 2.5 inches long. I have just added a 2 inch Golden Nugget and the Bristlenose has started to ...
