Callichthyidae ID?

Hi there... A friend caught a lot of these babies in a small tributary in Pará State, near Belém. It looks like Megalechis thoracata to me, what do you think? http://i27.photobucket.com/albums/c191/Fire187/Catfish.jpg They are tiny, BTW... The bigger ones are half an inch long. Best r ...

Re: Aspidoras ID...

You're probably right... Since A. carvalhoi comes from Guaramiranga and region (high, colder, relictual rainforest area). Is there any place we could find a diagnosis on this species? I saw the thumbnail of the A. rochai pic on CorydorasWorld (not a member there), and it seems very close to ...

Hi all.

A friend of mine got this specimen in Southeast Brasil, São Paulo State... Possibly a Rhamdia sp., but clearly Heptapteridae. Any chance of IDing it? :D

Synodontys ID.

Hi all. I found some Synodontis , and I'm thinking they can be Synodontis robbianus . They are not youngsters, and are at least 3 years old. Any thoughts? Awesome fishes... A bit crowded IMHO, but still impressive. 8) Just a couple suggestions... I think some substrate would make the whole tank and the fishes look better, and some extra hiding spots are not a bad idea. Oh, I'd put some caves for the L-24 plecos to hide and maybe breed. :P Best ...

Henrique, Nice find, IMHO... Looks like a Parotocinclus . Surely it's not a juvie Hypostomus or Rineloricaria , both are different and this fish looks more adult than a fry... That leads me to a small-sized species, and its look suggests Parotocinclus . It looks almost identical to P. aripuanensis ...

Robby, I don't think it's a L083, Glyptoperichthys gibbiceps ... Looks more like a more colorful sport of G. joselimaianus IMHO. Have you seen this pic, of a specimen owned by pureplecs? A picture of the belly colouration might also help , but I still think we're going to struggle becuase, as Daniel says, we need to know where it came from (so don't haul it out of the tank just for that). I really think some info on the collecting site could help us here... Especially when we realize that G. parnaibae is a not-so-common species in the hobby. Both specimens I had, including the one pictured now in cat e-log, were wild-caught in the Parnaíba River Basin.

The poster isn't the same - read the posts - and the last post from Daniel shows a different fish for no apparent reason? I think Daniels is showing a pic of what generally is referred to as a "Leopard pl*co" and how it's different from the pic robby is showing. Yes... That's the reason. I wanted ...

Robby, I really think it's a nicely patterned "normal pleco" (well, they're not the normal around here, that is Hypostomus plecostomus/ H. punctatus ).
