I had a pleco with a white spot on his belly like that and it was from the rough gravel so it could be very possible he scraped it.
I would really put him back and just keep your tank super clean so he doesnt get fungus on that area.
Not sure how big the Q tank is but smaller tanks and much harder ...

Here is a current picture of this pleco.

angelicus sexing
I have 2 angelicus plecos, when I bought them I thought one was male and one female because one had a broader head.
I have noticed the one with the broader head has tusks growing out of the side of his face (sorry I dont know what they are called) is this a way to sex them in these plecos?
Thanks ...

bristlenoses lay there eggs underneath something so you may not see the eggs, Im assuming you have a female in the tank.
They are also very good parents and if you notice the female wont guard them as well as the male but she will be close by.
Also check to see if the male is "fanning" the eggs you ...

Its hard to believe I was sold this guy when he was about 2 inches and was assured he would get no bigger then 4 inches and that he was a butterfly pleco.
Of course at the time I didnt know much about plecos as I do now.
He is a big sailfin, not as big as my other but he is getting there.
