I've got 8 discus, 2 "big" clown loach and an albino gibbiceps in with mine. All residents are very happy. It occasionally gives the gibbi a nip but just to let him know who's daddy.

My juruense is about that size, it's much darker though, pretty much black the whole length including the tail. it only has very slight variation in shade where the stripes are.

Sturisoma sp. would be good. very delicate in their actions. Paraotocinclus Jumbo are excellent algae eaters and they are not at all interested in your plants, you will find that they are constantly on the move as well. If its an algae crew that your after then false flying fox will polish off ...

The discus will get spooked by the barbels of your perruno as it hunts, even whilst its sitting there with its barbells spread in wait for food to swim close enough. your perruno will jump a bit every time your discus stray to close and this will cause your discus to dart around the tank. They will ...

I ordered them as L038, I'm just a bit gutted that they are all male and i have to re-order to try and get females. I thought ordering 5 would give me good odds of getting at least 1 female, now it will be 2.5 weeks till I can get some more.

Is it right, that because everyone is wrong that no one wrong? I am not going to stock these fish anymore, now it is up to everyone that feels these fish are not for the hobby, to do something about it. Start with writing letters to the magazines available where you are. It might make the letters ...

A point well put. This is a luxury hobby and therefore every fish purchased is for the enjoyment of the fishkeeper and for no reason other than that. I have room for 2 tanks this size and if it wasn't for a 2x2 pillar that holds up the building it would be a 14x3x3 (oh well 2 tanks is better than 1 ...

Hello, Have just asked on another thread, do you think a 6x3x3 would be large enough for my Jureunse when its adult? It is about 6inch sl at the moment and quite happily housed with discus. It doesn't seem to mind the warm water or the pH 6.5. Its light bars are not very drfined but I put that down ...

P. niger gets way too big for anything but the most extreme home aquarium. You're looking at 1000 gallons to adequately house an adult.
Does this mean bigrob's 8x3 isn't adequately big enough for his silver arowana?

I have a Brachyplatystoma Juruense in a tank with similar water chemistry to yours and its thriving. Considering that he only gets to 24", mostly hangs around the bottom and looks great this species would make a great companion for a silver arowana. Steer well clear of red tail cats. I had a 2' one ...

I will keep my eye out for 38's on any lists I get. it shouldn't take to long to get some more. Hopefully if I order 5 I should get to choose him a nice mate.

Do you recommend more than 1 female?

I have a 60cm/70L tank for this project.

If it comes with the self piercing tool to clamp it to your mains than yes. If I remember right from when I read my instructions you have to discard the first 15 mins of water if it hasn't been running for a period of time (to flush it through).
Sorry not an expert though.
