rapid breathing in catfish is often caused by parasites and i work at a lfs store and i asure you i have some pretty good advice.. and i would not recomend undergravel filters for tons of reasons........ they get clogged.... catfish like to burrow in gravel, sometimes getting stuck in undergravels ...

lol i got stung b4 to.... by just about every fish that has a spine..... fresh and salt my worst experience was a scorpion fish sting..... the lionfish who got me got me good....my whole arm felt like it was in a fire but the scorpion fish whoaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa i didnt forget ...

thats why i said he should bathe him in some macalite green,meleafix, or w/e u prefer treated tank water for 10-20-30 seconds maybe twice a day for a couple days i really kind of just blew that reply off though wit out explaination........ so if ur tank is infected thats when i would put medicine in ...

as of right now it looks like an external parasite.....

so i would try to keep it external
umm treat ur tank with rid ich or some other type of external invertabret killer stuff
thats if its in the tank....

if there isnt any others around u could bath the fish in mediicine

maybe some macalite green

yea just the biowheel i think there great as long as u maintain them it is a pretty heavy load of fish but thats what bio wheels are good for.... they can handle a sudden heavy load of ammonias and nitrites really well i might use a canister filter for like a wuick clean up job.... but yea i trust ...

yea i`m impatient what finniper said is very good advice..... and its almost fool proof...... but there is other ways..... listen to my sucsse story i have a 55 gal tank it sprung a leak...a bad leak.... immediatly i filled a 35 gallon bin up with water hooked my filter on which was a bio wheel 330 ...

i`d say no written maximum size is really realiable....

your fish can grow over or under

every fish iv`e had just about grow over what there suposed to get by quite a bit and iv`e kept alot.....

blood worms sometimes cause internal parsites i have heard..... i recomend rinsing them in warm to hot water quick b4 feeding.... and also brine shrimp is like prune juice to fish..... it helps clean out ther digestive track.... so incorporating that into thier diet wouldnt be a bad idea... feeding ...

i would of thought female because of the slight buldge after the pectoral fins

ive heard this happen from a couple people but still have no idea what causes it.... im pretty sure its an internal problem be it bacterial, an infection, or parisitic.... one story i heard was that a common pleco was placed in with another common pleco.... they both shortley died for what it looks ...

i belive i hav a male and female..... i have set up a 40 breeder with sand substrate and a nice current and a bunch of rocks with caves everywhere i need some tips and advice and i need to know if this set up is ideal any help advice or experince will help i`m planning on feeding them black worms ...
